Thread: Anyone familiar with GIMP?

I want to learn how to create my own graphics or at least give it a shot. I have some drawing ability but have never tried to work with web graphics. Does anyone here use GIMP? I'd love to hear some tips on working with web graphics or find good, easy-to-understand tutorials on getting starting with web graphic creation.

You can also try typing in Google "free gimp tutorials" and it will pull up for you a whole list.

GIMP is a very capable tool for those who cant afford PS, FireWorks, or the like.

Just install it and go at it, it is pretty simple, and the tutorials Nowak pointed out will help out!

I use Gimp, and in most cases it can but the best is still Photoshop.

I use GIMP almost exclusively for 2d web graphic editing.

I find it good enough.

Never used it myself but plenty of people speak very highly of it so it must be useful enough.

It's good. Real good for the price. And they got forums too, should be tons of links, tutorials and advice.

Fireworks is better for web graphics than photoshop, people jsut love photoshop too much. Gimp is ok but fireworks is better for web graphics and then photoshop.

i hate GIMP user interface, it's to crowded!
