    Smile An important question...

Hello all, I'm quite new here but have been reading around, what brings me to post this thread is a question I have.

I've been making graphic designs and other pieces of work for over three years now and have wanted to start doing it for clients (making logos, web templates, etc...)

Now a lot of people do this kind of stuff, and I understand it, but there's always people looking for a designer, anyways, my point is, lets say I have someone who wants me to do a web template DESIGN, do I need to code it, will people pay, for just the design, not a fully coded template, because I've read on forums of people and places offering designs, and coded designs at different price levels.

If I was to create just the designs, how do people usually take them, as sliced files from Photoshop, or as PSD's or as what, I'm quite lost in this aspect.

If someone could help answer these questions, that would be greatly appreciated and if you need more information, just ask and I'll reply.

    Thank you.

First, welcome Avancer to Web Talk Forums.

Every person has their own requirements if they want a coded design or just a psd design.

But most of the time as a designer you will create a psd file and then if a person wants it to be coded, you will charge them extra.

I hope this answers your questions, if you have any more questions feel free to ask them.

okay, thanks, but in my case, I am very in experienced with coding, so therefore would not be able to offer that, in which case, would I be able to sell, just PSD files of templates, or give just PSD files to clients?

Or is this considered bad etiquette and unfinishing a business, even if it's completely clear between the customer and designer that no coding will take place?

    1. You can easily slice the design in Photoshop to a fully coded source page.

    2. Designer's main work is to design graphics and coder's work is to code the designs.

    3. Yes, you will be able to sell just a psd designs, but with a coded source page you will be able to charge more.

    4. I personally don't think it's a bad etiquette to just sell psd designs, because mostly coders are from coding designs.

    Hi,

You should be able to sell uncoded themes with no problem. I would not think this is bad etiquette at all.

Alright, thanks a lot for the replies and for clearing that up, I'll look into what I can do and at some examples around at how people organize there products related to designs etc...

Once again, thanks for just clearing that up for me.
