I'm not sure about the best flash animation software but I've read about this and it's affordable too, http://www.mix-fx.com/

Darren, for beginners... hmm... well there is Paint Shop Pro which is easy to learn in comparison to Adobe Photoshop, but I'd recommend Photoshop overall.

For flash animations Id give Swish a go! That is a completely awesome program that creates them alot easier then macromedia flash, but theres one annoying bit, it doesnt expeort into macromedias saved format. So in essence there not directly editable in moacromdeia flash, but they can be exported as .swf's which is what most people want!

    Fantastic program!

Photoshop Elements is solid and a fraction of the price of PS (came bundled twice with HW I bought).

Is Photoshop worth the extra $500 compared to Photoshop Elements?

I purchased Photoshop CS9 on eBay for a fraction of the price. Complete, new, still in box.

    Default Yet another

Bit of software that my son has been promising to send me for ages and ages!

    Plus dreamweaver.

One of these days, he will finally remember his old man up here in Iowa and send all these programs to me.

it takes some getting used to that is for sure.

once you learn masking and layers you'll be good to go.

I 'grew-up' on Corel PhotoPaint but was GLAD I made the switch.

I think you'll have fun with it once you get the hang of it, you can do a lot of neat stuff. Tell your son to hurry it up!

I agree! This is one of my favorite commercials. They also have a program that can take a video file and make it into a flash file.

I used Paint Shop Pro for the first few years doing this - However, IMO, Photoshop is sooo much more capable. It is quite a bit more confusing, but it's worth the time and there's so much one can do with this awesome program.
