Could someone tell me whats the best free graphic editor out there to learn with ?

In my opinion, GIMP is the best free graphic editor. You can get it from gimp.org.

For example, the graphics on this free artbook is partly edited using the gimp.

I used to use photoshop. But now, I use GIMP almost exclusively. For news heard, the next version will have improve interface design.

as guppyman - gimp is good to start.

Also, for vector graphics I recommend Inkscape

And alternative for gimp would be Paint.Net - if You're going to buy Photoshop someday use Paint.net, cause it has very similar functionality to Photoshop.

I agree with the above. I have used Photoshopccs4 and I had lots of problems with it.
I switched to GIMP and I never look back. There is a terrific forum and tons of help and tutorials for every question you want to ask....
I also have mypaint but haven't used it much yet cuz I can't got back and forth between GIMP and mypaint unless I have Linux....
I have been led to understand that Inkscape is terrific but I can't get past opening a black page. I will have to spend some time studying the help to get a feel for it.
Yes GIMP is #1 for me.....

YES BROTHER PRO_EDITOR V 5.3 IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD. AND IT'S PROVIDE GOOD RESULTS ALSO.

GIMP is what I always suggest to the folks over at myhosting.com/forums.

There is also Microsoft Paint if you don't need advanced tools. Photoshop isn't free but it is the best editor out there by a long shot. No program out there out does it.

I have also used Photoshop and GIMP. I think, GIMP can be a good competitor to Photoshop.
