Thread: How Do I Get a Banner for My Site?

I see lots of websites with beautiful banners on them!

I am wondering how do these banners work?

Do I simply just paste the HTML code onto my pages?

Are banners even based on HTML code?

or are banners some kind of javascript or flash?

Banners are basically an animated graphic, and a link.

-If you use some of those affiliate sites, they will give you a piece of code, that you paste onto your page, the code allows the company to track the clicks etc that you are sending them, the code also displays the image (which is usually hosted elsewhere) and makes it click-able.

- I usually sell banner space to individuals, all I ask them to do is to send me their banner image, and to tell my where they want to link it to. Then I just upload the image to my server, add it to my page then make it a link.

- Also there are banner rotation scripts that you can upload to your site, you follow the directions to add the banners to the script, then you put a piece of code on your pages where ever you want the banners to show, then the script will serve all your banners in a rotation, so every time someone visits, they might see a different banner, depending on how many banners you have in your rotation.

These are just a few of the ways that people use to serve banners on their web pages.

So I can see the potential in having banners on your site.

I am not planing on selling banners on my site, but I am thinking about using banners as a sort of "Call to Action" for site visitors on my site.

Like wanting to entice them into clicking deeper into my pages by showing them a stunning banner or powerful image.

Self-promoting the site subtly in a way. Do you think this can be done successfully using one's own banners?

I suppose it could work, I guess I have never thought about it that way.

Give it a try and see what happens.

I personally rely on my navigation menu to move people around my pages, but that banner idea could work for you.

You can create your banner with several tools such as adobe Photoshop or corel draw.

I'd take the time to learn Photoshop, it's a pretty much essential tool for webmasters and learning it will save you lots of money in the long term PS Elements is cheap now and does everything you'll need.

I would suggest using Photoshop, i can now make banners within minutes after 3-4years of learning. I could make my lively hood out of it but i have better things to do :P

you can get banner from the internet by vary your search on to the search engine. you can find your banner images but some of them may be copyrighted so you can not use it as an professional.

you can get banners also from the banner providing websites which will give you the appropriate one related to your website either free or paid.

instead this you can also make it yourself just download some relative images and then edit them by using one of the image edit application/software.
you can make your own banner by using application like photoshop or similar like that. you have to make the image in jpeg or gif extension for use in your application.

you can also make your banner in flash format. you can create it with the help of the flesh development soft-wares. the flash format will give an exciting look to your web-page. you can also download the flash banners from the internet also.

you can also use the full version tools of banner making to develop it as you want. these tools are available on the net for the download either free or paid.

the other option you have to get the banner for your website is to hire the web design company, if you have enough budget to spend then you can get the banner from the professional web design company, just pay the fees and they will make you happy. it is a good option if you want to spend because though the companies will charge you but they will give you an perfect banner for your site.

Banners are of two types: Static and Animated. Static banners are made in the formats like jpg, png etc. Animated banners can be made in gif and Adobe Flash (swf) formats.

No HTML is needed for designing the banners. But when you fit a banner to a web page, you have to use HTML coding. To add Flash banner to the a web page, you have to use embed tag.
