Question Adding Video to Your Website, is it worth it?

    Hello Fellow Webmasters,

I would like to ask the forum a question, is adding YouTube Videos to your site really worthwhile?

I mean yea, if you had your own videos I can see it being good, but what if you don't have any of your own videos and you desire to post relevant videos from YouTube on your site.

How can search engines crawl and find out what the videos are even about if they are just YouTube Videos?

How can you effectively conduct ON-PAGE SEO so that you can ensure that search engines are properly categorizing the pages that these videos show up on.

Is it worth-while to have an entire page of solely only YouTube Videos?

My guess would be having a keyword-rich title above the YouTube Video and then a keyword-rich description of the video below the YouTube Video.

Is this an effective enough strategy or is there more that I need to know about when adding YouTube Videos to any of my sites?

    Thanks, Please Advise?

    Hi,

I am not the right person to answer that question, for I love using videos.

    Here is the reason why.

If a picture is worth a 1000's words a video is worth that much more.

The right video gives you an image for the site even if they don't watch the video.

youtube deals with the image rights to movie and such, I don't have to.

Bounce rate if they go to a page on your site and watch even a short video your bounce rate is way down. That a good thing in the eyes of search engines.

All of this can only help your page not hurt it.

    Plus to making your video.

They are a mini commercial videos I have made are on site in my niche all over the web. Best free advertisement I can get. They use the video I get the advertisement by branding the video. I can not pay enough to run that much advertisement. This is a great trade.

Yes use video people like me are also lazy I will watch a video before I will read the text use the video as a hook.

Give the video a try. Free offer to you. If you would like I will make you a video on a topic for your website. You will see how it will help. Just PM me what you would like it on.

Your own Youtube videos, sure. Nice thing to have for two way traffic. And sometimes people just want to sit back and watch a video or listen to a podcast instead of reading lines and lines of text.

Video on your website is a definite yes. Upwards of 70% of internet users view videos online and that number is expected to double in the next few years. Stick to a good plan that includes at least these suggestions.

-Make sure the videos content is relevant to the goals of your site.

-Ease the user playback experience by placing the videos prominently

-Include thumbnails and total running time so the user has a preview of the content.

-Minimize steps to view your video by using an imbedded player or streaming video so the user does not have to download software for playback.

-Provide user controls such as volume, fast forward, rewind and email/social media, etc.

You plan to use keyword rich titles and descriptions on-page. That may work for you since it sounds as though you have more than one website. But to maximize traffic it pays to use social bookmarking (Facebook, stumbleupon, reddit, del.icio.us, etc). It is time consuming but the payoff can be worth it.

But what I would like to do is to post videos on my website, with a nonbranded player.

Basically, I want to have videos on my website without having Youtuve own a part of my website.

I think video should only be added when very necessary. For my site, I occasionally upload some flash video content to show off some of the flowers and I'm actually pretty glad the speeds are good and there is enough bandwidth.

Well, based on my experience posting videos on your website will put you a step ahead of competitor when it comes on search engine result pages. Why? Because basically after you post a video to your website and optimized it, Your potential clients will easily search your site and its video content. Remember most people preferred watching a video rather than reading an article.

The more content you have on your website the better. Just make sure that the video page is well made with the proer text content for the video.

When you do searches for keywords on search engines, you will see videos that pop up on the first page sometimes so your video could also be there.

You could place a video explaining your product on your site.

I am not sure it wold not matter I don't think but it depends on what the purpose of the video is and why you need it on your site.

If you are worried about the bandwidth aspect you can use YouTube and just embed the videos onto your HTML pages. I usually don't have that issue so I just use a PHP video script and it works great.

    Just like that?

    Just a PHP script?

It needs flash applets and stuff like that I suppose.

    But I want that =/
