Thread: help me with my banners

Hey all, I had some banners made for a new site and I'm not thrilled with the designs so far but I also can' t think of what to do to make it work. I want something that will pop, and get clicked LOL

Here are the first examples he sent me I thought the first one was boring and the skyscraper was empty looking to me.

Yes, the first two are boring, third one is nice, not sure how to improve upon it though.

Because I really like the third one Kim, I feel it doesn't need to be changed.

Well, honestly I don't want to say too much about these designs but I really wished you would of came to me on this instead. The first two are very plain, and the third one kind of looks like a collection of styles thrown together in a cluttered way.

I totallly agree with you. I'm happy to hear you agree about the third one because that was my thoughts too. It seemed to me to be no color scheme and it just didn't all fit together right. I do apologize for not hiring you. We have talked about getting a banner done for aanother site and I will drop you a note in a day or too about it if your interested. I agree with VeXica on the last one...it just doesn't flow. And, there's not much about it that would make me want to click on it. The skyscraper is bland...not very appealing. And the middle text blends into the background too much. There's no pop. Same thing with the 1st banner. Hmm...I don't think I'd hire these guys to do anything for me.

Thanks for the feedback. I did rework them all with the designer and came up with a much happier result. We'll soon see what VeXica can do though when I get around to hiring them for another site I need a banner for :-) Hopefully it won't be as long of a process :-)

I am by no means a banner expert, nor did I stay @ a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Banners are like photographs to me sometimes, where I just sense a good or a bad thing. It's like "an eye" photographically speaking, you have it or you don't!

That is to say I cannot tell you what to change or how to fix, I can just tell you if it makes my stomach turn :P

That being said, none of them give me a good sense.

1st one almost looks like something you can create yourself online for free.

2nd one is 'distant', nothing really pulls you into it.

3rd one, while better than the 1st 2, just lacks 'continuity' if that makes sense.

Tim , where have you been this was like a week ago LOL I needed your eye to tell me too. I actually redid all of them and finally ended up which a much more interesting and connected theme IMHO.
