I actually didn't know there were tools for it, I'll have to check them out. I just use my own tastes when I choose colors.

I personally find myself using this website for my colour themes.
I usually use the same few colors and same logo on every site, for branding and building trust.
Vectro Web Hosting - Web hosting with solid tech support.
x Proxy Host - Affordable PHP proxy hosting with proxy-specific features.

If I'm doing websites I find starting with the background this usually gives me a colour scheme for the whole site. I tend to use blue gradients or sometimes a light grey.
Cheers
Sean
I take matching colors from the websites I am designing the logos for.
Off course, the color scheme is too much important in the web designing and a good designer has a very good specialty that he/she can use any type of color scheme in a more effective way, its all depends on your web application that what type of your web application is , so that's why a good web designer used to spend a lot of time with the client so that he/she (designer) can full fill all the requirements of the client by providing a good and unique color scheme in his/her(client) web application.... :happy-f:

Completely at random and tweak things if necessary until i am reasonably satisfied.
I like to use online color wheels. They show you all kinds of colors that look great together.
Hey! Jani you shared great tool.. i was unaware of these tools
I use to choose my own colors by inspiring 20-25 designs

I think color schemes are VERY critical in the designing process and I believe you can only choose based on experience. The more experience you have, the better you become at choosing what works. In my case, I always choose a dark color to pair with a more light color.
Many pros will also suggest working with black and a solid color as well to start. You can use white in place of black too if you want.
You can also ask for opinions at myhosting.com Forums if you want someone to critique your work under Showcase.
I usually just think of it in my head, make it and tweak it as I go.
Please stop relying on machines and programs to be creative. These are tools and your mind is the vessel for your talents. I choose my colors based on the original concept in the first place. You don't get all the tools to build a house before you come up with the design. It doesn't make that much sense, you have to plan ahead of time and then you really won't need to worry about if you have the best color making tool...you already know the colors..

My rule of thumb is get 3 or a max of 4 colour and integrate them. Make sure they are not bright colours that we see every day on colour charts, try to use unique shades.
