Kim, if you go to File > Save As

In the Formats' Drop-Down menu you will find the ( TIFF *.Tiff, *.Tif ) format available. You can save it in that format from there.

Let me know if you still need help.

I went to File>Save As before replying and there's no tif options in my Photoshop.

    I'm using CS 4 beta

TIF is a great file format b/c there is no compression (eg loss of quality) AND it can retain layer information.

best of both world's really but of course the trade off is that the files are massive just like a PSD file.

Tiff files are generally used for print. Like Tim mentioned, there is no compression. The layered Tiff isn't fully supported yet, so I always save them flattened.

Colleen, out of curiosity, what are the settings on the images you're trying to save as Tiff?

Me too is doing same and when going to save it the .tiff format is available. I dont understand why it is not appearing on ur side.

I even create files in both ( RGB & CMYK ) Formats and .tiff format is available in both. Must be some other problem with ur photoshop.

Saving files as tiffs has always been available in Photoshop. At least that I can remember (PS 4).

I'm not sure what the problem is with your version Colleen. Is your image color set to 8 bits/channel, or 16? Make sure it's at 8. Other than that, I can only suggest a reinstall of Photoshop.
