Default Is there a pen accessory you can use in Photoshop?

Ok, maybe a dumb question but is there such a thin as a pen that you can hook into your computer to actually draw with instead of using a mouse? I hate trying to draw with a mouse, I don't have the "skills" and a pen type thing would be much easier.

Here's one that is currently on sale at a good price:

    Buy.com - The Genius G-Pen 560, USB 4.5'' x 6'' Tablet With Cordless Pen - 31100026100

Oops! Temporarily sold out, but they're available on eBay as well.. lots of different ones. I found mine (an Aiptek graphics tablet) difficult to get used to.

Just make sure you have a fast computer, plenty of RAM and a sensitive pen/tablet or you'll experience alot of lag between moving the pen and seeing the result.. it was frustrating for me. I think I used it one day and never touched it again. Some people swear by them tho and love using them.

Good point, I don't know what my computer has for RAM but I will definitely look into that. It would drive me crazy if it lagged, definitely wouldn't be worth it.

Also, there are other tools called "light pens" which you can use to draw directly onto your screen. Very useful but unfortunately not available for LCD's. Nonetheless, a great tool indeed.

you need to learn to use the tablet pen,
its a bit more difficult from a regular pen.

^ I agree. I got my tablet as an Xmas gift. Just finally got it hooked up now that I'm trying to get back to work. It will take some getting used too but I love it so far!

Wacom is another pen tablet maker, I know the designers at Mattel all use them.
