Hey there guys,
Haven't been here since long enough but since I'm such a genius at website designing and maintaining, I guess I'll be here more often now
Great to see the new forum design and all of the cool folks that I used to see earlier. Say what? Oh the Redirect 301 thing, yeah I'm coming to that now.
I'm revamping one of my websites that have nearly 23,000 dead links (yep, i'm serious). 17,000 out of those are cache pages created by that bugger visitor tracking code from Clicktale. I don't know when were those created while I had clicktale tracking the crap on my website.
Instead of using Redirect 301 on all of those 23,000 links, I'm thinking of using some redirect 301 rule or some mod_rewrite that can help me with a "one liner" to redirect at least those 17k links that look like:
http://----.com/ClickTale/ClickTaleC...b01c63e2c5e2d6
So is there any redirection method that I can use to redirect all of such pages to the homepage?
By the way, is it even a good idea to use a redirect on all of those dead links/pages? I have removed Clicktale tracking codes from the website and no longer using it. My G webmaster account for my website shows a scary picture of all those 23,000 dead (not found) links. sigh ...
So, what are my options folks? Would appreciate any help you guys can provide.
Thanks & Regards,
Andy.
