Does anyone know how we can replicate this - it looks in the code like some sort of slideshow but maybe it is a flash movie

Most of these image slide show effects are not done with Flash anymore. They are done as part of HTML5 and more specifically jQuery. If you want to Google some jQuery slide show code snippets, you will get a wide array to choose from.
