Default What is the easiest web design software?

I don't have experience in web design, but I want to learn to build professional web pages. I know some html, but not much. Is there a cheap, easy to use and professional web design software that I could use easily without paying a lot? Am I asking for too much? Thank you!

You can try : NVU it's FREE and it's a powerful Tool that you can use in order to Learn how to Design a nice templates... then after if you will take this as a Main job so you can buy Macromedia Dreamweaver... My advice is to start to learn with free website templates, try to edit..etc then try the CSS Templates...

    Goodluck!

Web Site Maker software is the easiest method. But you must pay for this WYSIWIG / HTML editor.

I don't think the word easy can be applied here, sure it's something alot of people do but it's by no means easy, it takes alot of experience and hard work, though i won't be too objective, the 'easiest' way you can do it at a beginners level would probably be dreamweaver, photoshop... as stated above.

If you are looking for cheap then you should know your results aren't going to be as brilliant. I know on Mac OSX you can build your web site through iLife.

Of course if you are willing to spend the money for pure results, I would go with Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

I think that XML is more in demand now a days. XML is now the standard for managing data on the Web, and if you are going to be editing XML directly, it helps if you have a Web editor that will handle XML without trouble.

That isn't software. That is a coding language. To code in XML, you need a good code editor like Dreamweaver.

The answer to your question is relative to what you consider " a lot". Creating web pages usually includes a number of tools, and not just one in particular. I do not think there is ONE tool that covers everything, and is good at everything. Seems you have some research to do, before you move forward! Certain things are best explored personally, people can tell you all they want, but the decision only comes after personal research.

    WebPlus
    Web Page Maker
    Ezypage 14

Dreamweaver isn't a design software product. It is a coding product to allow you to optimize your design you designed in Photoshop to be put into a web format. So essentially, I would recommend both Dreamweaver and Photoshop together as a bundle to get the best software to do any sort of web designing/coding.

They might not be the easiest to use but are head and shoulders above all others.

    Hi,
you can try with Open source CMS like
    1)magento for e commerce
2)drupal and joomla for attractive and professional web designing

only thing is you must have depth knowledge in html, css and php
    learning can be done from
    www.w3schools.com

I personally like Dreamweaver but any WYSIWYG editor will help you when learning. Keep in mind that eventually it gets to the point where WYSIWYG just doesn't cut and it and you end up buried in code anyways. I definitely recommend learning the code and getting a good editor for both code and WYS.

I use Dreamweaver and have done so for years. I don't use any of the WYSIWYG functionality because I like to hand-code; but even for that it has great code-completion capabilities and code coloring options.

I recently started looking at BBEdit for the Mac. Anyone have experience with it? I'm a little confused as to why it doesn't have a file browser like Dreamweaver ... unless I'm just missing it. I also don't like not being able to set a background color for my PHP blocks.

Like said above, definitely Dreamweaver. In CS5 (and also some previous versions), you basically dont need to have any html skills anymore. The interface is split into two windows, left html and right live. If you make any changes in the live side (it is like MS words), the correct html code will be added to the left html side.

IMHO it's always better to be able to hand-code HTML/CSS. You will ultimately have better control over your projects.

I would strongly suggest you to learn html basics because in my experience creating a website might become hectic if you dont know the basics.. you would be completely depending upon the software... if you learn the basics, you can simply download some readymade templates and start uploading...good luck..

Your question as suggested previously, and as you have seen is quite a subjective question :happy-f: If understanding correctly you are looking for a web development program that is not to expensive but probably has a wysiwyg feature so that you can compare the code of what is being done to what you see as a result? There are several free tools out there, many that have been suggested here. Some are more feature rich than others, some you do have to pay for but you often do get what you pay for when it comes to such things.

My suggestion to you would be to decide if you want to go the free route to test out how much interest you are going to hold first and then if still interested or if you are getting better at what you are doing, purchasing one that covers what you need. Personally I use Dreamweaver mostly because I that is what I have become used to, I hand code everything I do but do like to have the wysiwyg feature to watch what is going on at times though it is not entirely dependable, just something I am used to and don't really rely on if that makes any sense.

If you think this is something you are really going to be serious about and grow into then I might suggest going to Adobe and grabbing the 30 day free trial, that will give you plenty of time to try it out and get a good feel. I also strongly suggest grabbing the free trial of Photoshop as well as much that goes into creating websites has a graphic and a code side to it. Another good thing about Dreamweaver is that it is good when you are doing CSS, PHP and the like so it is a platform that covers multiple needs which gives you plenty of room to grow and to be able to cover whatever needs you may come across.

    Hope this helps...

I am old fashioned myself, when I started out years ago we didn't have WYSIWYG IDEs, if you wanted to code a website you opened a text editor and started typing...if you wanted to learn it you got another web page and started reading, finding out what tags did what learning it from the bottom up. So my personal view is that anyone that is serious about becoming a good HTML/XHTML, CSS, and PHP programmer needs to learn it the same way, be able to sit down with a simple text editor and be able to produce web pages, at least the basic ones...the bigger software packages like Dreamweaver and the like are good for the more complex coding requirements and for those of us that have typed the same commands over and over for so long we have grown lazy :devlish:
