Can a ssl certificate be brought from anyone or only from my web host?

Hello,
My web host is slicehost. Is it necessary to get an ssl certificate from slicehost
or can i get it from anyone.

you can get your certificate from anyone who sells it, not necessarily from your webhost. Look out for some cheap resellers on the net. You can get it really cheap.

Of course you can purchase it from any of the SSL provider. I have recently purchased COMODO SSL. But you need to be very careful while choosing SSL provider as many people are facing problem afterwords in terms of support system and all kind of services, Thankfully my COMODO SSL Certificate provider is giving 24*7 support.
