I want to start a freelance site, much like elance however, possibly with products and services?

Which freelance script would you recommend and which is the best?

Well coding a clone of the script would hardly be worth it unless the script was truly unstable.

ozlancer pro (ozlancer.com) by far is the best

it's extremely well written software and because it's still relatively new they respond to my feature requests
