i was on a freelance site i get jobs from yesterday and seen a programmer won a bid for a complete clone of adsense that might be interesting to see the out come i just hope they do things the right way so the is no copyright issues

How much was the winning bid?

Provided they steer clear of copyright issues, there's nothing they can do about it.

Also, I don't think it is possible to do the exact clone of google adsense for low $$$$.

How does this differ from all the adsense "clones" that have been circulating for a couple of years?

^ I'm guessing it wouldn't be any different. Unless they're able to come up with something better - like higher revenue for the people who will sign up to them or less chances of your account being deleted..

No different than what the other search engines are doing. Google has nothing to worry about, there are plenty of ebay and paypal ripoffs but ebay hardly notices. Online business is about one thing trust once you have customers with who trust your product you can name your price.

It seems to me,

That knock offs never seem to do as good as the real thing, a few exceptions maybe, buy I think the real money to be made is in coming up with the next big "Fad".

It's good and there is definatly room for more than just one key player in this market! I hope it works out for them!
