Arrow Best place to host your pictures

I manage a few photoblogs and my bandwidth consumption is pretty high.

Can you guys suggest a reasonable photo hosting site that gives unmetered bandwidth with good storage space.

I am planning to go with PhotoBucket.com ($25 a year), but the 5 GB upload limit is not something that I am content with.

    Any suggestions?

I highly recommend Photobucket. I have a paid account and I think their service is excellent. Excellent uptime and great user interface. If 5 GB isn't enough storage space then maybe you should consider compressing some of your JPGs?

    Why's that?

Although I did read some rumours that they got hacked a couple weeks back. Not sure if they were true or not. And even on the day they supposedly got hacked, I did not see any interruption of service whatsoever.

As a parent the only issues I have with photobucket are security issues-and honestly if you are uploading to any web site you take the risk of having images stolen, so photo bucket is no worse than any other basically.

If they can meet your needs, I'd give them a go.

ImageShack has way too much downtime. And tech support is non-existent. And I wasn't using their freebie plan either. I was paying to upload pics there. Lousy service, IMHO.

In my opinion, photo bucket is the best for hosting pictures. Photo bucket advertises 99.9% uptime, and offers 1 GB free storage, 25 GB free monthly bandwidth. Uploaded photos must be smaller than 1 MB , uploaded videos must be five minutes or shorter.

it wasn't too long ago that PB was a royal PITA...BW limitations were annoying at the very least. it looks like they have updated that since when I first started using them but here is the thing (aside from my massively long run-on sentence), they had better not be important pictures though b/c anyone can use them and anyone can but them and guess what, the photographer does not get compensated in any shape, form, or fashion; that to me says NO THANK YOU!

For my money (which is currently $0), I'll go with Photrade...but then again, it all depends what kind of images you are hosting...just everyday bull that you might post online? then yeah, PB would suffice

Have you considered using a good web host that doesn't mind you using a good amount of bandwidth instead of using an image host? I don't mean a budget host with phony claims of offering 1000TB of bandwidth, but one that gives a decent amount? Hotlink protection works on most Linux hosting servers and will prevent people from stealing images or hotlinking them and wasting your bandwidth.

NO! I have not considered that.

    1) I am poor (relatively speaking - until I become a internets guru)
    2) I am cheap (not George Costanza cheap but cheap nonetheless)

However, I'd like to find something along those lines someday as I am an avid video type person (and by avid I mean approximately wheneverthehell I feel like it). I'd love to find a nice spot to hold my time-lapse videos. YouTube and the like really suck! So that is out of the question.

as for images, Photrade actually works great for me b/c I can share them and sell my work at the same time...which is what I need anyway! since I am a photographer. :3076:

now, if the buggers will just return my EMAILS!

Which host would you recommend for this? I've tried a few 'premium' hosts over the years and I don't find them any better than the budget hosts (worse, in fact). I think it would probably be better to go along the lines of a VPS or a dedicated server.
