Default Vote for “India – Still An Outsourcing King”?? YES / NO

When anyone talks about outsourcing, India's name comes up in mind as an undisputed King in Business Process outsourcing, Offshore Software Development and ITES. Due to new emerging countries in Outsourcing field now a question arises “Will India remain outsourcing King? “

Will India loose his place in Outsourcing and Offshore Software Development??

errrr... where's the poll and where's the cheese ?!

No offense, but most Indian Customer Service agents sound weird and not very American-ish ... IMHO..

Don't worry about outsourcing (from US), it would soon die now that Obama is in power.. US would give back the "outsourcing" work to its citizens and not to some foreign 3rd world countries like yours and mine... Its time to look for other jobs... hehehe just kidding

Yea, India is the leader in outsourcing business but Pakistan is also involving in this business slowly. Pakistani people are more hard-working than Indians, and you get the same (or better) quality work from Pakistanis as well.

India will surely loose the market share IMO.

    Why the need to outsource?

Primarily to save money.. I'd say, the less expensive workforce with a "satisfactory" , "average" or "above average" output that could meet the outsourcing company's particular "needs" would be prioritized.. A particular country's workforce could be determined by its own economy and its own employment and unemployment status.. The Brain Drain dilemma..

Of course India would stand out, because of its vast "workforce" but if Pakistan would be the same size as India....

    Shuccks...

Waiter, I'd like to have what you've just given me.. on the rocks !

Doesn't seem to me that it would be something great to brag about. They are paid pennies to do crappy jobs. I agree with Noob in the sense that it is like working through a puzzle when you try to talk to them about tech problems.

They are not used because they have any superior ability. They are used simply because many companies do not care about customer service and are more worried about saving money.

@allout Now that you brought "tech problems", I would assume "technical support agents" for companies like Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, blah-blah-blah which caters mostly with North American clients/customers...

Tech Support on the phone is hard enough for both parties (the agent handling the call, and the North American callers seeking help for technical solutions for their hardware problems).. the task itself is hard enough (phone support) , why make it all the more harder with language gap.. if accent is not an issue, pronunciation is most likely the culprit...

...." I WANT TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR " scenario.. or "I WANT TO SPEAK WITH AN AMERICAN TECH SUPPORT" scenario.. WTF.

    A very dissatisfied customer..

Makes you want to sell ice cold Cool-Aid instead. LOL

As someone who has worked for large Outsourcers (eg. EDS, Accenture, etc.), I have to say that India is NOT the best outsourcing location to go to now. There are 3 primary problems:

1). There has been such a HUGE influx in outsourcing business to India that the technical resources in India are extremely scarce. So you're not getting the quality you would have received back around the Millenium.

2). Because of the scarcity of resources, the costs are going up and it's not as cost effective to use an Indian outsourcer

3). as you can see in this thread, there's is a bit of a 'minority' backlash going on against India.

Personnally, I find that Thailand and Malaysia are better countries to outsource to now.

Most of the time whenever I have to call customer service or tech support for some company (even my telephone company, amazon.com, satellite TV etc) I have to talk to someone in India that can barely understand what I am saying and I certainly can't understand them.

It is very frustrating when you have a problem with a service or with an order you placed with a company when this happens. No offense intended to any Indians as I am sure there are many who can speak and understand English well BUT this always pisses me off.

This just sums it all up for me when I used to call for support on certain things. Now, I have to just hand the phone to my fiance as he can understand better when it comes to those who speak unclear English. We have come to just use the phone to call less though and use email to communicate.
