Thread: How do you make money online?

I'm thinking about doing some more online stuffs in order to earn a new laptop and I'd like to get some advices from you!

At the moment,my income is from submissions to my directories,selling blog posts,selling links on my webmaster related blogs,selling signature links on DP (that's why I'm so active there )
But the income isn't that much (no more than $1000/mo, )

The majority of my $$ is made from actual product sales, you might want to look into some good affiliate programs. I make some decent extra cash in affiliate programs myself.

Actually. No. But I do a lot of PHP programming for companies, remote server monitoring, help desk, and business systems administration from my laptop in my living room

Its a good chunk of cash but the programming jobs can be huge one month and then nothing the next month and the admin/helpdesk is a small bit of money.


My advice, get a job

I make almost all of my money online... over the phone, as a SEO Consultant... I work with 3 fairly large SEO firms on the side and have my own... Link building will be big this year until the new algo comes out

I do it all, I make money through affiliate sales, advertising/links, Scott has the real workhorse site though, a membership site which keeps the money coming in. I am currently beginning designing (suckers). I have self taught myself everything and don't know much but I can make some decent sites. Nothing major, I don't charge much for a site LOL.

Affiliate programs are great,I'm developing a site which will be focusing on promoting hosting as many hosts have high commissions...I know it would be hard though
P.s:Are the sites in your DP signature yours?

The probably is I don't know PHP programming at all...I have lots of things to learn but don't know which one to start with.
If I want to learn PHP,should I learn C/C++ at first?

Scott a/k/a demsco on here.. his url is on his profile, he's in the financial industry for over like a decade now, just brought his work online now.

As for me learning design...alot of books! Don't know really, I'm stubborn and cheap and would rather teach myself things then pay someone else? I have dozens of adobe books, frontpage, dreamewaver, etc. and started using other templates and modify them to customize for people. Therefore I don't code it myself yet, just redo graphics at this point really. But I'm getting frustrated over that and may have to start learning actual code this year...could be a good resolution for 2007 for me :-) I've just been lucky to have family with connections so far and get some big accounts hopefully coming my way! They have no idea what it takes to have a website, which works to my advantage :slaugh:

I love PHP but HATE C++. I do know VB tho.


They are two different languages. PHP is a web language that does not to be compiled into machine code like C++. They are also very different as no websites are run in C++, at least that I know of.

People will tell you one language is better than another, however it really comes down what you are comfortable and what type of application you are doing, envirnments and systems its going to be run on, etc. I am a Visual Basic fan becuase most of my programming is event driven (user clicks a button, wants to select information, etc) and run only on Windows.

That is really up to you. For someone starting off, C/C++/C# are all powerful languages but it really depends on what you wish to develop.




Also, if you are looking to make some extra cash, you can always play poker online.

Im still looking for a good one. Currently I like doing business with domains. But at the same time I build my mailing list for email marketing someday.

I do Web Design, Web Mastering, Programming, and General Web consultant work. Yes, I am for hire.

I do custom css-based vB styles, design webpage graphics and templates, install and upgrade vB forums, run a paid forum posting service, and make a nice (small, but growing) chunk of change through affiliates.

Richie do some research in the Affiliate market , choose the best product (depends on the niche you want to target) which you think has the potential to get you good rewards.. Do not bank on a single niche maintain 2-3 different niches - experiment with the niches regularly until you gain the best results..

You may have to go with a VPS or dedicated server if you wish to run a proxy.
I just had to setup another dedicated server as my 1 proxy was stressing this dedicated server out to the max.
It's understandable why hosts will not allow them as they are bandwidth and resource hogs.
