Thread: Most efficient Anti-Virus software

Hello everyone,

Are you tired choosing between Norton, Kaspersky, Nod32, Avast and the rest...Well, I wanna break the ice. I'm looking for recommendations on one already a cliche question. The Anti-Virus software.

I'm just wondering what AV I could use if we talk about "light-on-resources". It seems that with the amount of virus signatures all commercial packages are targeting, anti-viruses have become the most resource-hungry application on one's PC. I personally have not had a trouble with my anti-virus choice but it's been always a good barometer what people around you think about this so old but still actual question.

So, am I looking for something that does work efficient and meanwhile does not torture the CPU/RAM that much! Your choice and opinion, please!

We use Trend Micro in the office. And I think it is really one of the best.

I of course have to say that MX Guarddog is the best first defense against viruses. No question, it takes the most load off your server and your desktop.

On my desktop I run NOD32, but I've never had a virus at the desktop level.

Where is Avg free option?

That is quite a list i have not used most of them although i have had no problems with avast.

Avast is the best I used.

I use kaspersky (which is the best IMO)
if I didn't have that, I would use NOD32
and if I didn't have that, I would use mcafee

One more for Avast.

amongs the list norton is the best antivirus for me and excluding norton i like AVG also since its scanning system is more advance than norton..

Norton and Mcfee are the best to my mind.

I prefer Kaspersky. I use it nearly 5 yers.

I don't know if you heard about it, but there is a new virus now named Tbama.dl_ . It get your processor functions on 99% of allowed ! It make you freezed and can't do anything unless restarting PC, and get another 5 Minutes of good working until it's lauched again. It affects every file and application of the PC !

So, i highly recommand you to use Avira Anti Vir Free Edition, which is the only solution until now which can delete and repair the entire Computer.

I've been using avast AV for so long and I don't have any negative feedbacks about it.

At present I am not using any kind of anti virus.

I'm happy to see Avast is in the lead, I was using avg for years and recently came to love avast, it's the best!!

Try AVG antivirus, I think it is the best one now.

You're missing McAfee. I use it.

I am using Norton symantec endpoint anti virus for my system.

I chose Norton, but to be more specific, Norton 360. It is worth every penny. It removes viruses without me doing anything, and uses low memory.

kaspersky is the best in my opinion. Also if your running windows 7 you can get kaspersky beta for free!

Well i'm using AVAST home edition which provide really good security then other as i have used many anti virus soft.

I would go with bit defender or NOD32.

I'm currently using AVG. I really find it accurate than my old anti virus avira. Sometimes, it really depends if you update your anti virus regularly.

Recently switched to Trend Micro and has no problems with it so far.

nod32 is by far the best out there, uses very minimal memory and finds more viruses than most others

I am using AVG for two years now and so far I have no problems with it...Although I would like to try out other anti viruses but I guess its enough for me now ...

My company uses Trend Micro and I can say that it's really helpful.

I am surprised that AVAST is favorite.
this is what I am using after a big failure in AVG

I use Nod32 and before I used Kasperkey. Both are good and don't take too much resources.

I have been using a couple of Anti-virus softwares in the past, now I am using the Zonealarm Security suite, which is Anti-Virus and Firewall, all in one.

I am very pleased with this program, as it is very efficient.

for antivirus better go for avast avira

I have read NOD32 is really good anti virus software by the way I would like to asked if its applicable to Vista too?

The one listed in the option do not contain the one I use.
I use Spyware Doctor antispyware plus antivirus software and it is working well.

In our office we use kaspersky and it is good one.
