If you're using windows, press ctrl+alt+del while you have several tabs open and then go to your Task Manager. This will tell you your CPU and memory usage. It might be that Firefox is using up all of your resources.

Get more bandwidth from your ISP or free up other resources as there is obviously a bottleneck of sorts.

I guess the problem is in your memory. Try to upgrade it.

I'm not encountering problem with my Firefox. Maybe you have many cookies or virus. You need to update your anti virus.

Normally the FF problems happen when there are multiple tabs open, it happened to me when I opened more than 20 tabs. Try to close it and restarted your pc and like Vectro says maybe it is the usage of your memory.
