    Angry Vanquish-Hosting: Loss of data

    Hi,
I would like to report Vanquish-Hosting for loss of data and downtime. I wrote the following for another 'report bad hosting' website however it was having some problems so I decided to come here.

My site is rev2.org (that I refer to in the following paragraph) and beleive me, what it looks like at the moment isn't what it looked like before this incident. You can find a good screenshot of how it was before right here (thanks to whois.sc).
When I signed up with this host, I accepted a lot, because this was my first 'paid hosting'. Beleive me, I hardly got half of what I expected. Their customer support is bad, the guy takes ten minutes for one reply, which is also one-worded like 'ok'. The uptime was terrible, extremely. It was like the hosting was running on one good personal computer and the owner turned it off every night.

They promised to come back with a new server to guarantee 99% uptime, which did happen, but while moving, and this is the only reason I'm writing this, they emptied my blog's database! 600 posts, 200 words and above in each, one year's worth, oh, and one day I see it's empty. I contacted them about it and after about two weeks, received a reply 'the techs are on it'. This put a smile on my face, but if only the 'tecs' were actually knew what they were doing. I described the problem many, many times to them and what their donkey-headed techs did is reinstall WordPress (blogging software) on the same database! Then they posted comments like 'check this site out, very interesting stuff'. Oh, god!

But then I remembered backups, so upon asking the owner 'how often do you back databases up', I received '3 months'. Ok, I thought, at least it would be something to get the database back as it was three months ago. Then I asked 'do you have a backup copy of the database, three months ago?' "No" was the answer. Dear lord! How can I trust this hosting anymore whose employees or whatever empty a thousand dollar (that's how much money I made with the blog per month) databases every so often!

I'm not sure if I should ask for my money back, or what. They've ruined my business, and if you signup with them this may not happen to you but just a warning that it did happen to me.
    Thanks a lot,
    Sid

    Default

    Hi everyone,
I've decided to move on with life and have restarted the blog. I got back some of the data through the help of a friend, and backup everything (including database, files) daily. I'm still with the same host and sort of wish to carry on until my term is over. Hope this never happens again.

    Thanks,
    Sid
