How often do alexa update rankings?

As the title sais, I wonder how often alexa updates rankings. I have got a big increase of traffic, but the ranking hasn't got better since more than 24 hours ago. The ranking is 1,600,000, could it be that my site has less priority then the others because it is so badly ranked?

he traffic wouldn't matter unless each of those users had an alexa toolbar....that's how they calculate their figures

I think it depends on quality steady traffic. My directory currently has a ranking of 244k and steadily going down (which is good) and it has only been up for a month.
