Thread: Yes you too can have a Business Phone Number

You know something I used to hate the fact that I had to give our my home telephone number out to people who wanted to talk to me about my business.

I remember only last month being woke up at 7am by a nice Norweigan lady who got hold of my home number and wanted to know how to book a holiday.

I've been hunting around for a solution, and initially found out that my ISP was giving away an 0845 number, so I used that, but it was a pain in the arse unplugging the phone when I wanted to use my home number.

Anyway, I came up with an excellent solution, use Skype. The Skype In service gives you a local telephone number, which you can put on your site and people can phone you on their telephone, anywhere in the world and it comes through your Skype / PC.

I have a Skype phone and it's great. I'm online for the majority of the day so its perfect that people can contact me easily, and I can take their call no matter what time of the day I am online.

On my site I have my business number, and I have used the Skype script so people can tell if I am online or offline and can call me via Skype which is free.

Just thought I'd mention this incase anyone was in the same position as I was.

It only costs £20 around $35 a year. You get an answerphone service included too, where you can record your own message so it works exactly like a telephone if your offline, when you go back on you get the message.

You can send SMS messages aswell and peopel can text you.

I really do like skype, but unfortunatle I dont have my headset anymore as it broke (friend sat on it) I will replace mine soon as I do miss it, it made things so much easier to have it!

I too like skype but have not thought of using it as my business number. What a great idea!
