Thread: Looking For Hosting Recommendations

I am looking for reseller web hosting recommendations.

My current host is fucking me around, big time!

In the past, they have disabled a domain a couple of times for "overuse of server resources".
It was an obscure script that had custom mods to it, so I thought "OK. Must be the mods or something".

The latest fiasco is that they disabled 8 of my domains (most of them just standard Wordpress blogs) for the same reason "overuse of server resources".
This time, I know it isn't me. It's them and I'm sick of it!

They only bothered to notify me of 1 domain. I discovered the others had been disabled on my own. Who knows how long they have been disabled for?!?!?

Steer Clear Of Reseller Zoom (Hosting Zoom) web hosting.

Anybody got any recommendations for a GOOD web hosting company?

Damn man sorry to hear Zap. That is total BS that they not say something! I had the same thing happen before to one of my stores, same script they had hosted for months. They looked at the admin when I processed the pages which causes a very temp load on the server. They locked my domain and didn't even fng tell me!!!! WTF.

Errr anyways if you need a spot to throw them shoot me a pm I can give you a place to host them for the moment until you figure something out and I wont shut your sites down!!!

2 months but it's been fine thus far.

They had already shut down 8 domains (told me about 1 of them).

I opened a ticket and suggested that since they are all (with the exception of one domain) standard scripts that everyone uses and maybe there's more to the situation than meets the eye. Maybe the scripts aren't the problem. I asked them nicely if they could re-enable them and see if they can spot the source of the problem.

Their response... They shut down domain #9!

if u can afford a VPS i would recommend servint, great company, great support & a great price for a fully managed vps.

Servint is good just watch their cancellation policy.
Personally dedicated servers are just as cheap damn near than a VPS now a days, gives you much more bandwidth, the way to go

HostGator's awesome... I've been using them and they haven't had one downtime yet!

I'm just starting to put humpty back together again, one domain at a time.

Reminds me I have several sites to put back up to, just don't know where to put them.

I went with budgethost.ca.
The server they put me on is much faster than the POS I "upgraded" to at the old place.
(I knew there were problems with the server there!)

That's my host with a different domain, I think they have two or three. I've never even had to contact them once, which I love. The host I have for my main business, I seem to contact at least monthly and have slow Sunday's, might have to move off there, I have about 10 sites there, I HATE moving that many sites.

I had 35 sites to move. :evil:

I'm down to about 25 or so, now. :sconf:

Cpanel to cpanel?

That makes it so easy. I moved almost 80 off of my VPS a few weeks back, that sucked! Even easy sites, changing DNS, setting up the new account, bahh!

Nope. I wish it were that easy. Because of problems with backup files and servers being different and configs changing (MySQL server info changed), I have been reduced to FTPing the files, creating the databases, importing from old databases, recreating e-mail accounts and testing everything afterwards.

It is a long and tedious process for each site. Thank goodness for my automated cPanel backups or I would be starting from scratch with 35+ domains. I've even been able to move over the webalizer stats.

It's slow, though. I got two domains done yesterday.

it sucks when u have to do it that way, its like when u have to re-format and the n re-download all updates and install ur progs again etc :sleep:

...and, for some strange reason, I got locked out of the admin area on one of my blogs.
The blog itself is working fine, but I just get a blank white page after logging into the admin area.
Using a different password, get's me a password error, but using the correct password gets me the blank page.


I'll have to tear that one down and redo it when I'm done moving everything. At least, the blog is working.

That sucks... I was there last month or whenever it was hat I changed servers. HATED moving all the sites! Good luck.

usually a corrupt file causes that, often caused by the FTP program, re-uploading the file(s) should fix it.

I tried that (a few times) and it didn't work. And I also tried wiping out the database and re-importing it and that didn't work, either.
But, thanks for the suggestion.

When I get the time, I'm going to have to try to setup a blog on a different domain, import the posts, import the links. Then I'll wipe the current one and do it all again back to the correct domain. PITA.
