Thread: Yesterday I submitted my site to 350 directories manually..

...and after this, I will be doing a daily submission of 10... do you think most of those listings will be indexed by google?

Depends on the list, and certainly approval times will vary directory-by-directory.

Depends on the directories you listed too. Some well known directories get indexed rather quickly whereas new ones (the ones that are typically easy to submit to) take more time most of the time. At least that is what I have found.

Avoid getting large no of links too quickly ..... Mr G might put you in -50 list as they have done with one of my site!

This isn't a significant risk with directories as they don't all show up immediately. The review/approval time varies a lot directory by directory.

Submitting them manually is the best opt as you get to choose personally which directories to submit to. They may even help in your SERP in the long run.

So long as you have and will be submitting them to the right categories and quality directories - you are on the right track.

I think you may see your site start to rank better for the anchor text you submitted, so follow that and let us know how it goes.

Wow we have phpld staff on WTF!

my suggestion is to submit to a maximum of 20 directories per day... this way you can be sure google wont think you're spamming your link

how do you find time to submit to 350?

Some services will do it over time so the news is out there on such things- I always think it is best to spread around your link building - directories, articles, forums, social networks, etc.

Some will and some wont. You should keep building inbound links though. Keep submitting to as many directories as you can find and all that work will pay off in the end.

Couldn't agree more. Directory submissions is always a good investment for the long run.

Almost 80% have been indexed so far and still I am continuously submitting daily to around 5 to 8 sites/blogs/forums

Post a before and after SERPs ranking report so we can all know if your directory submitting paid off for your desired keywords.

I do manual directory submissions to make a few extra bucks. The last site I submitted was a hawaii niche. It was submitted to 1000 directories. In one month, the Google rank for this keyword improved from 110 to 19. In Yahoo, the rank improved from 8 to 2. The site was not listed in the top 500 of Live/MSN, and now its 6. There were minor SERP increases in other keywords which were not targeted.

Directory submissions work, and they work rather well. The key is to use a variety of descriptions and anchor text.

There's no need to limit submissions per day. Directories take days, weeks, months, to review submissions. Once approved, it takes time for the spiders to crawl them.

It's interesting that some of the seo "experts" try to steer people away from directory submissions to anything but Yahoo and the other big directories these days. I find that the smaller ones still offer some value for the time and work it takes to submit to them. Same with some of the higher PR paid directories. Many of them do show up as backlinks on Google, so that's the proof right there.

I don't know too much about link building and directories. Could anyone explain the benefits of it to me?

Linkbuilding means you are posting your link anywhere so that it will be easier for others to find your site through those links.. If you have some links posted in directories or anywhere, it will be easier for search engines to index your page.

It also increases your relevancy for the anchor your using in a SE's eye. But beware of doing it too fast or with all same term it could result in a penalty.

I was highly motivated that time and I used roboform so submitting one list took only in just a matter of seconds... Still doing it around 10 directories daily of evrey other day...

10 directories a day is a good pace IMO... Also try to vary on the anchors texts a bit so as to make them look natural...

It will depend on the directory. But I am sure Google will pick it all up in time.

it depends on the approval of the directories you were sending,if you really wanted yor kws to be indexed easily by google better try social bookmarkings and forum posting, this is the fastest way to indexed your kws.

80% indexing is a good return for the work you do.

Alot of the "bigger" SEO firms try to steer people away from directory listings as it simply takes time. The firm I work for does directory submissions and we manage about 100-a-day per client on initial startup and try to do about 10-per-month thereafter. That keeps a nice update going on.

With 30+ clients it can become very tiresome to do 100 submissions, let alone 350 submissions. But yeah, congrats on getting your head down and doing it. Respect from me

If your link stays there I can't imagine that it won't get indexed. A lot of directories are old and or backed up, however, and your link won't show up cause there is no one there to actually approve it.

Check the directories home page.

Make sure it is google cacheable.

If the directories are manually reviewed it makes sense for Google to use the links as a quality factor.

350 is extreme but can only benefit you. This is will definitely help your crawl times. Good job on your hard work.

Not the case. If you have been penalised it is not because you have posted too many links too fast.

If that was the case then I'll go start link spamming my competitors.

Only after their approval. From my personal experience - only half will be approved )))

i had also submitted 100 at time but we all know the web,asters of these directories need the backlinks or money or if not then it takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks to get listed so there is no problem of penalizing

Very good way to get quality backlinks for your site.

I also prefer slow submission service for good response.

you will get sure good response.

According to my experience i did lots of times slow submission (10 to 15 per day) and got very good response from web directories.

% of approval are also depend on directories and quality of your backlinks are depend on number of links in your category.

Means you submitted in Business category and there already 100 links exist then your backlinks seems as poor but if there are few links (10-50) then it can be very beneficial for your site.

So, try to choose directory with patience : some tricks are below

Directory should use dofollow for your link

Link crowd should be minimum in your category (not essential but can choose for better response).

Reciprocal link are value less in case of directory so try to avoid reciprocal directories always.

You are on right way dear and you are doing it manually means it will give you sure good results just after some days.

350 yowzers!! I think it took me several weeks to hit 50 of them

Directories are starting to appear again in the serps. After the google 'bitch slap' last year around this time a lot of directories weren't passing any juice.

I outsourced 50 submissions and the keyword hit 1st page in around 2 weeks but didn't hold.
