I am new to the whole website thing. My website is and i just dont know how to get my name out there. I have submitted my website to about 200 directories and used things like adwords.

WHat else can i do to get my link out there

Write a few articles and submit them to ezinearticles etc.

Join a few more forums such as this one and make use of your signature.

Use social bookmarking/networking sites stumble/digg etc.

Find forum communities and blogs related to your niche and get involved there posting/commenting.

any other ideas from other people

Have you thought about an affiliate program?

Well these are the standard 'easy' methods to get backlinks:

1. Directory submissions (there is no end to it)
2. Social bookmarking (including internal pages). You can also consider bookmarking 'link-bait' type of pages to nofollow bookmarking sites.
3. Forum posts, be active in relevant forums and put your website (including internal pages) in your signature.
4. Article submissions - I am not a big fan though
5. Press releases - get an expert to do this for you.

You can also go for slightly grey area of blog commenting to relevant dofollow blogs with High PR.

These are just the basic methods.

here's my routine, for every new website I recommend doing onpage optimization first, after that was social bookmarking submission going through blogs and forums with the same niche, also creating articles and submitting them to article sharing sites helps in getting backlinks (I doubt if there were traffic), try to use twitter and build reputation among other fellows that has the same interest as yours.. creating a lens on squidoo also helps in getting backlink.. create up to three backlinks on the squidoo lens you will create. everything just goes around in circle.. the main target is build links (a lot of links)
