Directory submission is the easiest way to getting one way links (free) but, there are a major problem. ohh cool; you don't have any guarantee where your links will be live. So now a days webmasters does not prefer directory submission, simple they don't have patient to wait still one day to 1 yr.

disagree. search engines give them virtually no weight that can help your site in turn in terms of serps. the only thing it does is help give your site link diversity that will make your site's links look natural to search engines instead of having just all high PR links. you may also get a little traffic.

Directory submissions should still be a consideration in your overall plan to drive traffic. Some forums have a good site list of directories. Don't rely on it for heavy traffic or for big engine rankings but I believe that you should at least investigate all of the options which can benefit you, your business and your site.

There are lot of myths about directory submission like whether it is useful or not, still have importance or not etc. but I personally believe in doing it as it proves useful in driving traffic. There are many famous and authority site in which if we get approval than it proves very much beneficial for us.

So I still do directory submission in authority and relevant site.

Directory submissions are here to stay for now. As long as they are still in existence then I do suggest using them. Some traffic value is still associated with them but as to how long that can last no one can really say for sure. If there is a means to drive traffic then it should be used.

I honestly believe that directory submission is a waste of time. The time spent entering titles, descriptions and captchas isn't worth the effort for the amount of traffic or "link juice" it sometimes brings. I can see all but the biggest directories dying over the next few years. They're not needed when anyone with half a brain cell can get better results using the right search terms in Google.

i don't think directories do anything in terms of traffic. they are good at providing cloud cover. people will always want cloud cover. directories will continue to be around if people continue to pay for them. free, easy links, even if they don't give link juice--like i said: cloud cover.
