I would like to know what's the difference between content farm and article directory.

After Panda Update, there are strong rumours that article directories doesn't matter,but after reading matt cutts blog it all talks about content farm.

I would like to know are article directories content farm?

If no,then what's the difference between the two?

Please guide.
