Blog commenting seems to be the most effective if time is a factor.

What I find that works for me is to do social bookmarking, blogging and article submissions.

Research the keywords on a topic.
Write an article on your topic and use the keywords in the article.
Put the articles on your site or blog, because content is king.
Then social bookmark it on all the popular bookmarking sites like digg and redit.
Ping your article with pingomatic.

If you want to go to more trouble submit some more articles to article directories and point links from there with you keywords in the anchor text to your site.

I also believe that blogging is a best and offer immediate and high impact interaction between organisation and its target audience. blog gives a small business the opportunity to demonstrate its expertise in a given area.
It's also a forum to listen to feedback. you will receive a lot of links without having to ask for the link

Doing these SEO techniques mentioned will surely drive traffic to your site, but you must get patient, Always remember that the web is a large place with an enormous amount of content. To have your site come up and be clicked upon is going to take time.

participate in busy forums that is only related to your website subject, this is great if you are an active forum user,people interested in those threads will be interested in your site and follow your signature link. But remember to post only quality and informative replies

The two best I think are article writing since if you are able to write a decent article your link will be spread virally and another excellent way to promote is through social bookmarking.
