If you want to get high PR backlink than you have to work for that to get that link PR than put your link on that link which will provide you high PR backlink for your site.

Posting high PR backlinks (on actual high PR webpages) is an extremely difficult thing to achieve for a webmaster trying to promote a website. What everyone above referred to was merely posting backlinks on forums or blogs with high PR domains and not necessarily high PR threads or blog entries.

What I find, when posting a backlink in a thread or blog entry concerning a popular subject, is that sometimes in the long run that webpage with the thread/blog entry can gain PR because some people who might have found it interesting or useful posted a link elsewhere to that webpage thus increasing the PR of the actual webpage. You can use this strategy when posting your backlinks - posting backlinks in threads or blog entries which involve popular or controversial issues.

Owners of sites or blogs with high pagerank will be likely to want to link to sites or pages that are extremely worthwhile with something unique or worth visiting. People get so caught up with "seo" and fail to realize that is it "people" viewing their site that will make a difference.

Most of the blog have high PR value, so try to comment on those blogs. Make sure that its relevant and DoFollow.

There are many ways to improve your backlinks. Link building is the answer. Just do the off page optimization process. Like directory submission and participating in do follow forums.

I think that it's impossible to get the link from high PR site for free. it can be either your site or you'll pay for the link

You're right on that. It is a big popularity contest, the only thing that is different is that you control how much is the reward by doing hard on your efforts.

If you want high PageRank backlinks, you need a high PR site. Of course finding a high PR site is easy if you have mozilla addon to check the PR of a site, in opera, you can add widget and you can choose for the best SEO friendly widget to their website.

I built up my PR organically before going out of my way to get a link on any high PR sites. Still, PR is only a general guideline and SERPs matter so much more.

Ranking high in SERPS is a result of your SEO and backlinking efforts. Continue doint it and your site can even get into the first page for a long time.

If you want to build these high quality links, I recommend you do a combination of Article Marketing, Social Bookmarking, Blog Commenting, and Forum Posting. That's basically what I have achieved with some sites I have had for 2 years plus. They are high traffic, high PR and high Alexa, but the traffic and the quality of it is the main factor I look at.

By posting regularly to these forums and blogs, and properly utilizing the signature tags, you can generate much needed back links to your web page which helps with search engine optimization for your site.

It doesn't have to use the rel="follow" attribute. If no rel attribute is used, then that implies that it's dofollow.

You're right I have noticed the posts with most no of comments have the highest PR.

You got to be creative and have something the high PR sites want. For example my site Edgar Allan Poe - Short Stories, Poems, and Biography is almost done and once it is I am going to go to all of the college sites and let them know about the completion. I will also be hitting up all the major poetry websites and let them know if I am lucky out of every 200 requests I will get 2 or 3 super high quality backlinks, but this may be a bit optimistic.

It's good to post in High PR Forum sites that you can gain more knowledge on new approaches in link building strategies that other SEO professionals are using.

Most of the times nowadays you can gain high PR rank site if your going to buy links for it ..Usually its hard nowadays to get higher pagerank without paying anything

Even if the page only has a PR2 or PR3, there's a good chance the PR will rise over time. I've seen archived blog posts that have much higher PR than the most recent blog posts.
