Does it has beneficial effects? I am currently experimenting with it...I am build a separate html page like this and currently promoting it just like I promote my blog. Is that ok?

yes this gud technique to create feed of your site and promote particular page to promote whole site link its valid link link promotion..
has anyone tried it before? what is the effect? is it similar to viral back linking?
It has three big effects that can yield some nice results for you.
1. It will get your content more distribution. Readers/searchers will be able to discover your content at a different location other than your website. If they find your content interesting, then they will be inclined to visit your site.
2. It can help your content gain indexing in the search engines. If you submit your RSS feed to RSS aggregators such as Feedage.com and RSSMountain.com, they will actually publish your feed on their website.
The next time Google crawls those sites, it will also index your content and help to get your source content to be indexed more quickly.
3. If you content has links in it(especially links pointing back to your website), those links will then appear on inner pages of high authority websites. Essentially you will be quickly gaining links to your website from established, authority websites, which is always a good thing.
Hope this helps,
Neil
It doesn't make any sense for me! Just promote your blog![]()
I have used this technique and it has worked great for me. Here is what I did:
1. Signed up with ping.fm to autopost my social networking sites.
2. Took the social networking RSS feeds and inserted them into RSS Mix to create one feed.
3. Submitted the feed with RSS Submit
Wash... Rinse... Repeat
