Thread: How Can I Engage/Encourage Visitors to Utilize my Bookmark Buttons to link back to me

Are there any kind of steps or procedures or methodologies one can take or understand in order to make site visitors like and click on my bookmark buttons, add to favorites buttons, print, email buttons, translate buttons, search buttons, any button found on my site, I do not care as long as some people start clickign on some of them.

Whats can I do?issy:

I am already aware about button placement, I have buttons in the header and footer of all of my pages, below and on top of my content. I need other means of engagement besides just slapping the button in their faces.

People like to bookmark something if they might need to reference it later, or if the site is updated with content regularly and they want to check back. I would create a little blurb at the top with the bookmark link AND a link to the RSS feed if there is one. Some people just prefer RSS to get updates instead of using bookmarks.

Great question. I would suggest paying a graphic designer/artist some coin to create an image that draws attention to the bookmarks. Such as a worm reading a book, saying plz bookmark me...depends on your niche.

HMMM, Excellent idea, never thought about using images to instill participation. I have just recently began placing relevant images to pages on my site that merit them.

Hmm, my cousin is studying graphic design, maybe I can save the money and have her make one for me.

I have been using the Addthis bookmarking widget for almost 2 months now and guess what still has not one person utilized it on any of my webpages.

I just got an email the other day from some one recommending and raving about the Addthis bookmarking widget, yea it looks great and allows people to bookmark to any of the top bookmarking service, but I will tell you that just have the cute little widget does not mean your website vistors will use it.

Does anyone have any suggestions! I added the addthis bookmarking widget to every single one of my pages. That is 100% saturation on 163 webpages, and as of yet not one damn bookmark as of yet.

I figured with the nature of the internet being the way it is, that atleast one person might click on these buttons, even if it was by mistake lol. There is even that probability and it has not happened.

Do not know what to do about it now, to engage visitors to use these buttons at this point!
