Hello All:
We were just curious about what people do to buy links.
Do people buy links?
Where do you find them?
How much of a budget do you have for link buying?

Many people buy links. How you find them, well in forums and on sites like linkworth. I think more people would be interested in a one time fee versus monthly payments. The higher the page rank the higher you can ask, but that does not mean for you to ask for an arm and a leg! Apparently you have to be careful as goog now will punish webmasters who sell links.
Thanks... I was looking for the thoughts on what YOU do? Do you buy links?
Well, I play it by ear and look at the pages the proposed link will be going on. I make sure its indexed, the PR is real, backlinks to the site, how many links are on the page and most imposrtantly the content of the page. Links farms are out, irrelevant sites are usually out and too many links are a red flag. I then see how much the link is and then make a decision. I prefer reasonable cost links, let's face it a link is rarely worth tons of money and it takes no time for a webmaster to put up or take down a link.

I very rarely buy links. I'm cheap :-) and I find other ways to get valuable links. I do occasionally buy them but it has to be a really worthy/relevant site, PR, traffic, updated content etc.

That is right, more and more, webmasters are going to one time payments for links.
I know, it is harder for me to sell links on a monthly basis.
I like to buy links in blogs via having articles placed in blogs.
Good feedback everyone.
It is interesting. We sell a great number of site reviews. But all of our blogs are fairly high traffic (3000 uniques +) per day.
We do buy some links, although we prefer to buy other types of advertising. PR to us is a secondary concern. Traffic is what matters,.
I also agree to you.. I saw people think too much of page rank but traffic is what matters.. the more traffic you have the better chance you have to become a successful web site...
I dont like to buy links for page rank only rather buying advertising space like banner ads would be much better...

And as a gentle reminder, be careful of those sites that want low prices for links saying they get xxxx unique hits per day.
I have seen link sellers do this, and after buying the links, etc.
The traffic drops off to nothing!
Why?
They buy traffic in bulk prior to selling links!
Same with sellers of websites, saying this site is getting xxxx uniques per day right now.
And the poor buyer is screwed!
Heck, I could take one of my sites, buy like 100,000 unique visitors, and then advertise it is getting xxxx uniques per day, so buy some links.
I like to have traffic but it should be targeted traffic which is having potential
for generating revenue/sell. Whenever i buy some link i first check for traffic stats of last 3 months for that site and relevancy of linking site is most important for me to consider....
but recently Google seems to to getting rude with site which sell/buy link so we would have to think twice before getting in links trade.

Ok my personal experience link sells are scams to me, I think you are best trying to build them yourselves. I have bought links up the wassu & never had anything that was even remotely what I had ordered. If you look, there are many services that'll provide for free just because they want to build their links. I recommend going to places that are relavent...

If you buy links be selective. I see no problem with buying links you just need to know what you are buying. Some people buy links for traffic, but some people buy them for SEO. If you are buying for traffic then PR and everything else does not matter. If you are buying the link for SEO who cares about traffic, you wnat the PR to trickle to your site. This is IMHO of course.
I have rarely ever bought links but have sold many.. I know alot of people buy paid directory links.. I'm not sure how effective they are, been meaning to look into it. Freebies for me, thanks![]()
^Paid directory links are good occasionally. I would prefer free listings and links from more relevant sites. Most people, IMHO, only use directories for links and not traffic. With the hundreds of directory links I have I see little to no traffic from them, but I am on pages 1 and 2 for my keywords![]()
Now you have to be careful.... google is getting harder for sites selling link you can have a look at their recent campaign at : http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=66736
Some bad-minded people would report your siteand may it affect your site. i don't want to interfere into your business but just want to help you....i don't know how Google will treat such link selling sites;

^Yes, but that is why you need to be smart about it. If you list prices on your site then they will know and people will report you. If you have people contact you by email to advertise on your site then you tell them the prices etc...of course make sure they are not a real competitor before you fire off your prices ;p If you go here to get links it can all be done via PM. Considering Goog sells links for a living it is pretty stupid.

Hi,
Buy links from here:
Link Sales Forum
Buy only cheap ones, or pay a bit more if they are relevant.
I actually have a project going on at the moment which involves no buying of links, just obtaining free ones! We'll see how that goes![]()
If you want to buy links, it may be best to seek the advice of an experienced text link brokers. You should make sure the the link pages in indexed and cached in Google, and the site is relevant to yours. Better still, the link should provide some traffic on its own.
Where possible the webmaster should place the link in the body of the text rather than the usual header/footer/sidebar. The words "sponsor" "partners" "links" should not be in the vicinity as these can be detected by search engines.
There are some other recent developments that you should consider
1. Rotating ads - the anchor text and/or url rotates every time the page is refreshed.
2. Hosted content pages - you give a page to the webmaster to upload. The page should be similar to the overall design of the site. The text would be written by yourself. You can have several links to different pages of your site, or to several different domains in your network.
I don't agree that you cannot disclose that you get paid for links
you just have to make it appear like your are selling them for the traffic
The big guys do it why not us ?
johnchow.com/advertise/
techcrunch.com/advertise/
gameproducer.net/sponsor/
and they do sell some hard links and text links
I buy and sell links a lot, people (me too) buy links a lot based on the PR and therefore they want to raise their PR - in order to sell at higher rates - and therefore buy higher PR links then their own (its a vicious circle)
but, of course there is an upper limit on how much you can ask for
I have heard people ask $4000/month for a link on a PR8 subpage that gets probably no traffic at all. I would definetelly spend this money otherwise ....

I agree. I really believe the recent nuttiness about link sales is a little overblown.

^ I hope it is over hyped too! It is all ridiculous IMHO

Google haven't been so strict still now but once they start getting rude and started dropping the results of such sites then the whole scenario will get changed.
but there is no point for Google doing so......Google should not interfere in our business/earning;
*****may be they are planing to explode their Adsense/Adwords income through such business tactic![]()

Many, many people buy links, including the big, well known sites. I was surprised to find one of my competitors was when I wrote to the site owner and got a response saying that they sell links via a certain site (*see below).
There are a variety of things you could do that may be considered grayhat as well, such as sponsoring very specific WP theme designs, related to your site topic. There's a good chance that the user of the theme will have a related topic to your site.![]()
