Thread: Good Form Of Marketing?

Has anyone ever tried doing live video or web cam marketing? Here is an example of what I am talking about. Ask Uncle Sam Live | Presented by TaxEngine.com At 3pm Mountain time or 5pm eastern, someone dressed up like Uncle Sam will be live on a web cam. For 1 hour he will be there to answer questions and take viewers requests on whatever you want. What are your thoughts on this form of marketing?

Anything that get's your name out there is good exposure. (As long as it's not a scandal, and sometimes that can work in your favor too...) And usually the more off-the-wall and crazy it is, the better response it will get. But you really have to work hard to get people to see it, or else it's just craziness for nothing.

Did you get to see uncle Sam live, Kalina? If not you can watch Monday Wednesday or Friday from 5pm to 6 pm ET. People like asking him to do pretty crazy things like once someone asked him to let everyone in the office throw balls at his butt. :lep-laugh:

He was very entertaining... I liked it when he went trick-or-treating around the office.

But I made several requests and he did most of what I asked.

He will do most things unless they are outrageous or inappropriate.

I thinks it doing its purpose well as it made it here hehehe

I think only being online one hour at a time is not helping it. It might be better to be more than an hour for just one day every week.

I don't think I agree on that. He's doing one hour a day 3 times a week. I think it's fun to look forward to "Uncle Sam Time" and if I have to miss it, I can always watch the recording of his latest show on the site.

I know Chris Pirillo is on basically 24/7 and has a pretty good list of sponsors.

I'm not sure I'm ready for a 24/7 connection. I'd prefer a scheduled times

But that's not a bad idea.... Start doing it, and THEN get a sponsor...

you got yourself an interesting point. when uncle sam stops maybe you'll start seeing Uncle Wiki. wait...that makes me sound like a creepy molester....hmm....

Although ti si quite original, i think that this form of marketing can't be used in any kind of promotion, for example it is not appropriate for promoting a serious business, because video always has an element of entertainment.
