    Default Dofollow

    what's dofollow

In order to be succesful, websites need to get a significant volume of traffic of good quality. Dofollow is simply an internet slang term given to web papges or sites that are not utiling nofollow. Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. Originally created to help the blogging community reduce the number of inserted links into a "comment" area of a blog page, the attribute is typically standard in blog comments. The implementation of NoFollow: link building has taken a massive hit, as many sites including dofollow weblogs, social bookmarking sites, social networks and Articles submission, social portal sites, forums and social bookmarking sites across the internet began implementing NoFollow.

    Weird comment....

But yes, more and more of the bigger sites on the net implement nofollow attributes to not having to water down their page rank and really to keep google happy.
Especially those sites selling links, check as a lot of times, they are nofollow just to stay on the good side of google and not be seen as selling links to pass on page rank.

Google and other search engines so far still count as backlinks those nofollow attributes.

I always thought that NoFollow was created to stop spam. I think that we can safely say that attempt failed. It's sad though that people are using this to protect something as nebulous and (I think) useless as Pagerank.
