Default Investing in Your Website or Blog

I am not sure if this is the best place for this, but if it isn't please feel free to move it. I was looking around on the internet and came across this website that said you could invest shares in other people's websites and they could invest shares in your website and by doing so, you would make money and the shareholders would make money if your website did well. Does anyone know any places that do this? Or how it works and if it is good or not?

It sounds good in theory, but I don't think that the practical application of something like this would be sound...at least not now. Websites can be run solely by an individual, and a stock market-style investment group amongst website owners doesn't seem as secure as dealing with organizations which are more able to offer some level of accountability.

    I would wait on that...

Most blogs or small websites, even they earn very well from ads, can only support one or two persons (I don't know many websites making over few thousands of dollars). Usually it is more like a side income.
So according to this model, what ever revenue I make from my website/blog I should share? sound weird and not that promising to me.

Yes, there's no regulation that small site owners really need to adhere to. Plus, if you know what you're doing and you can fund a successful site yourself why would you share the profits? It would probably appeal to those wanting a fast buck by setting up junk sites purely for the shareholders money...

I think I know a site that has the same principle as you've said. It's an article directory site which you can submit your article and you can put your own adsense code to their site and has a 50/50 share from the income of your ads.

It will bring you great profits if you have an insight into the website you want to invest.
But it also makes you assume the risk. Therefore, think carefully before you do it.I haven't
tried it before,so wish you good luck.

To do something like that legally, would require tens of thousands of dollars in legal and accounting fees to set up the required filings to sell ownership to others (i.e. the public). My guess is it's either:

    1) A Scam of sorts
    2) Something that would be almost impossible to work out in theory
    3) Illegal and a S.E.C. Nightmare waiting to happen

I don't think this is a good idea to let other people invest on your website, how could you trust someone you haven't been with for even a while? this matters a lot, successful sites are founded by people who trust each other and also gain trust of other people, so I think this wont really work..

I think that investing in my own website is much better and much more reliable than in some other, because I feel the full responsibility for all success or failure.

I think do business with Website seem to be better.
Blog: you need to update frequently; and you should be a good writer. besides, Search Engine don't like Blog too much.
Website: you may easy to design according your ideas. easy to expand more page and moduls. easy to promote..and search engine like website specially web 2.0.

however, do website is more expensive than Blog.

Not a very sound investment to me.

A website needs more advertiser or contributer rather than investor.
