Thread: PR or Traffic?

When the first time I learned SEO I concentrated much on PR because this what I believed to get higher search engine rank but I read articles discussing traffic is more important and leaving PR behind.

I still need to learn more stuff in SEO so anyone can explain me this?

Traffic means money!
PR means status!

What do you strive for?

Actually, a site with real traffic will eventually get a high pr. So traffic is King!

Yes if you have one you can get other easily. So if you have good PR than you can generate traffic to your site and if you have good traffic than you can get good PR for your site.

I would have to say traffic would be the most important to me. But really I think they both go hand in hand.

And traffic is driven by content, so content is still king! LOL

Traffic takes priority for me and pr tends to look after itself.

Both are good. You can target them both as well during your optimization campaign...

But I advice that you take the traffic rather than PR, Just like what ForexTrading said, traffic means money. The more traffic you got the more chances you get a conversion.

the search engine results change almost every day but PR only once in 3-4 months. It means that PR will not give you an accurate information on your Google position at the moment.

No way. Getting regular traffic does not mean that you will get high pr and the other way round. Getting High PR depends largely on quality links and securing high rank depends entirely on the entire SEO technique.

SEO has always been about getting to the top and getting traffic. However, the focus has been off traffic and on PR. PR is important, but PR is only a status symbol.

Like everybody has said above, traffic will bring PR, so why focus only on PR? Work on marketing your website by using link building techniques. It will bring traffic which will lead to a PR boost.

I agree traffic is by far the most important factor of your website. Without it you might as well keep a journal instead of a website. That being said, I do still love to watch that green PR bar grow and grow.

Even though traffic and PR have a connection you can get a high pr site that has no traffic and a low PR site with high traffic. The good thing is that when smart SEO decisions are made usually PR and traffic are both benefited.

Both are good. Personally, I give more emphasis on targeted traffic.

Yup, my site is PR2 and i get much more traffic than a PR5 site.

So Traffic matters, PR comes along with it. Concentrate on building traffic rather than SEO.

Both are equal important for the websites..so focus on both....

Page rank isn't important at all.

Good content and relevancy is all it matter.

You can easly outrank a page rank 10 with a page rank 0 if your content is more relevant to the query.

PR isn't something I (ever) think about anymore. It's not important, rankings will show up with good content, backlinks and hard work, and rankings will bring traffic. I believe that these days, even Google places little emphasis on Page Rank.

with traffic you could generate a lot of sales, simply means more money.. it is hard to gain traffic without increasing our visibility also our rankings through the net, so we usually look upon SEO or SEM procedures, with these methods PR comes along.. so it just means that these traffic and PR is closely related, but I highly recommend to prioritize more on traffic :twisted:
