Default articles - how to avoid duplicate content

Ive started submitting articles to ezine and they are being accepted, I will shortly be adding these articles to a few other high PR article sites, Im not going to go over the top but look for between 5 and 10 good sites. Im aware that I need to change the content somewhat or google wont rank my article due to duplicate content. My question is, how much content do I need to change, will the odd word suffice or just bolding certain words?

Google does not penalize duplicate content. It is however preferable to refrain from using duplicate content - but in my opinion it is better to spend your time writing more articles than rewriting existing ones. You can change a few words and phrases here and there, but don't waste too much time on it.

I am glad that they are no punishing site with duplicate contents I do have some blog wherein I get some articles in other source because it is really relevant to my site at the same time it is a translation from Korean to English so I just copied it but I also place the original source of the articles. I wonder if its considered duplicate it has different title though and I change some phrase in it

From what Ive read, if you put one web page up and then put exactly the same content opn another page google wont rank the second one as its duplicate. If this is the case how does articles help as if 1000 people used your article surely google wouldnt rank these additional ones and so your back links wouldnt be took notice of either, is this correct or am I missing something?

I think that the only way out is to write different articles. At least for 30%. Rewording can be helpful.

There's no problem with the duplicate content as long as you includes a link back to your original article. Adding your own commentary to the articles might be enough to avoid the duplicate content filter. just my $cent of thought.

I think this article will enlighten you.

I had the same question a day before. And answers I got that the main thing is do change TITLE and description. Sure you can do changes in your body, but I will change on such sections, when I will work with articles.

I think just focus on writing more original articles, don't think of duplicating your contents, another way is write an article praising your previous article and it will get more original

It is good to write original article and submit it. If you are submitting the same do some variations in Title, Description and always link from different anchor text from that article. That's my thought. Please correct me friends, If I am wrong.

Submitting the same article in many different article directories will not be a problem as far as duplicate content is concerned and as it has been mention before here. Duplicate content is only a problem if you have the same content within the same website, that is what Google does not like.

I don't know if google truly has a problem with dup content on same site, I run many sites where the scripts being run cause multiple versions of the same content to load. No problems at all, google just indexes the copy it feels is the dominant one.

The best method to avoid duplicate contents is just reading an article, catching the main idea and rewriting it in your own words. this technique seems time wasting but it is the most safe, to my mind.

I would definitely rewrite. It doesn't really take a lot of effort to angle an article content a little different and changing titles. Perhaps add a new image etc.

I think that Google can distinguish which duplicate content is genuine and which duplicate content is for plack hat purposes.

No, google does penalizes articles which are duplicate, but if you have article right , you can post it to other article sites, your ranking will not be affected

I wrote the article not so experienced, but I know that the original will be better search engine rankings than duplicated.

It depends on the search engine. I don't know how google can penalize you for duplicate content when other web masters can publish your article. You will end up having duplicate links all over the place.

I used to re-write articles and submit them to several directories. I don't bother doing it any more because it is simply not worth the effort. You may as well just write a fresh one from scratch and have no indexing issues.
