    Default Email Marketing

I'm in the process of creating a newsletter that I will send out to subscribers 3/4 times a year.

My prefered method would be to send an HTML email but I've been told that it's hard to track and that a high percentage of my subscribers might not be able to read it.

Do any of you have a newsletter and if you do how do you distribute it?

Do you use any particular software or script Grim?

The program that is available with fantastico works pretty decent and allows you to have unlimited lists. The subscriber can also choose html or text, easy to use admin allows you to add pics even, urls' etc.

I have a ARP3, its a server based autoresponder that we use for our newsletters/mailing. Ours only gives good stats when its in html form so that is what I use. I think it depends on the program your using obviously.

I always find that newsletters arnt read. Or very rarely they are read propably. I know myself that I usualy just trash them when I see them.

But Im sure some people will read them, im just not sure how effective they'll be.

    Same here.
Most of the newsletters I get are too long, filled with too many ads, to even bother reading.
I do scan through them though to pick up any nuggets that may be in them.
Most marketers now are either into html email or just a short email with a link to the newsletter on line.
Once I have my email program set up (using coollist at present), will do the internet option.
But getting a decent email list, one can make money at it providing you do it right.
I hate those idiots who have to send me one or more emails per day about the latest and greatest.
    They get unsubbed real quick!

Again, let your subscribers know the frequency of emails they will receive.
Once a week is a good time option.
One a month or a longer time period, people tend to forget they joined and some at once yell spam!
Make sure it is a double opt-in list!

I agree about putting your newsletter online, especially good if your looking for extra adsense $$. That way you can put it in your newsletter. Just an idea :-)

    Good ideas everyone.

This newsletter will be sent 3/4 times a year near peak periods for the travel industry. I've been thinking about this and I'm going to try cover all angles.

The newsletter will be in a HTML email, but a link to the Text only version, and a link to the site where all of the newsletters will be archieved, and can be found by holidaymakers, plus like Kim mentioned slap some adsense on the pages.

Try that and see if it works.
The so called email gurus say not to have that long a period of time between newsletters.
Monthly at the very least is best they say.

Well, that all depends on the type of email that's sent. If it's a quarterly, make sure you state that in the email. I work on a number of eNewsletters and HTML emails, that it really depends on the product you're marketing and who you're marketing to.

A good rule of thumb is to keep copy concise. Something that people can scan fairly quickly and get the gist without having to read word-for-word. Keep the vertical length as short as possible and organize the information well. By well, I mean to make sure it's arranged in a logical manner.

It is a good idea to have a text-only version as not all email programs work the same. If they can subscribe to either or that'd be great.

I use a product called XTREEME FollowUpXpert PRO ($125) and is a PC based autoresponder. I don't mind it for the most part as I have my PC turned on pretty much 24x7 but others prefer a server based one.

For the last couple of years, I have actually being debating getting into something a little more reliable in terms of delivery. I find that more and more obstacles are getting in the way of communicating with my customers. Yah spam filters are one but the other issues are that people are continuously changing email addresses, inputting the incorrect email into the form and the list goes on and on.

I attended a few workshops by a leading group of internet marketing guys and one of the things that caught my eye was a desktop marketing gizmo. Basically how it works is, the user is asked to install a very small app on their machine. It installs in the task bar (where you see the system time - button right) and every time you send a notice out it will open a little alert box (like when your friends log into MSN messenger).

The only draw backs is the user needs to install the app every time they get a new machine and when i looked into it, users needed to install a new instance of the gizmo for every newsletter. You couldn't consolidate all 27 newsletters from one originator into one install. This may have changed now though! EDIT: APPARENTLY SUPPORTED NOW

The cool thing is that you are not competing against other elements such as spam filters, other people spamming their inbox and it 100% guarantee delivery as long as the app is installed on the computer. When you click on the little cloud that pops up - it list messages currently in your inbox and when you click on the message title it load in HTML in its own custom little window. You manage your messages in the inbox pretty much like your normal email app, the cool thing is that you really only manage subject lines because all content is stored on the server not on your PC. Which is great! Because there has been a few times that I have sent something out with errors in email and wished I could get it back, with this app you can change stuff even after the alert has been sent.

Anyways lots of cool features - if anyone is interested here is the link:

I think most senders would prefer the html route. Unfortunately, the delivery rate falls faster than a fat man who sat down too fast. At least with text only the vast majority get through the spam filters.

You know about Mail Ma$cot, this is the most notorious mailer on the web, has taken their rotation to another level. DP Mailer is not available on a website and there is little chance it will be. You can get it to contact on Skype, MSN, YMSG, or AOL at eDataKing.

If you are sending a newsletter or using it with Google ads or another ads it means you are spamming and it is not good for the news subscriber as well Google term and conditions. better is you create a simple newsletter . it will be more beneficial then others.
