Default Thoughts on marketing a proxy blog?

I've recently launched Daily Web Proxies. I am struggling a little with ideas on how I should go about marketing the blog successfully with a relatively limited budget.

To place this all into context, here is a snippet taken from my About page:

My aim with blog is to create a regularly updated resource for anyone who wants to find the best web proxies available. I am confident that the blog will be updated regularly with reviews of the best web proxies, at least once a day. As I am sure you are all aware, new proxies are popping up every single day. However, old established proxies also happen to be dying out. What better way to find the fastest and most reliable web proxies than via a daily updated blog?

Rather than being just another proxy site, I want to actually contribute something useful. It is because of this that I will be actually reviewing web proxies based on their design, reliability, speed and usability. I hope that this will encourage innovation, as we are always after something new and different.
I'd appreciate your input. Any thoughts on how I should go about successfully promoting this blog? Other than creating topics like this of course!

    Nice blog layout Matt.

If you are in a limited budget, most if not all of your traffic/promotion should be focused on optimizing your blog to generate organic SE traffic and word of mouth.

If I may, one of the things that quickly caught my eye on your site is that many of your post summaries are "Here are todays web proxies for the 22nd February 2007" then when you click on it to read more - you get a list of 5 proxy links -thats all. The fact that there is no editorial content or reviews associated with your links really doesn't provide any value. In its current form it is not very SE friendly or User Friendly so you will need to add some significant content in order to promote your blog.

You indicate in your blog that you are being spammed by proxy site owners. This could be a good thing! I would suggest that you put a form on your site that says "Suggest Your Proxy for Review" - this will help you increase your list and drive some traffic to your site.

In summary, Matt you may want to rethink how your blog is structure in terms of the value of the information you are providing. Remember the general rule of ::: if user don't like it - SEs won't like it!

    cheers

The main purpose of the site is to actually review different proxy servers. For example, take a quick look at this post. To bolster this, I decided to post short lists of proxies each day too. The thought process behind this being, certain people aren't going to care for reviews and editorial content, they just want linkage. I thought posting a combination of both reviews and links together would cover all my bases.

I have a section on the blog specifically for this purpose, describing how people should go about submitting their proxy for review. The blog post you refer to was a result of certain people commenting on my blog posts asking to be reviewed, or just making a quick comment describing how their particular proxy is the best.

    Thanks again for your input!

If many people want to start a proxy site..maybe a guide on what to do and what to expect will attract some traffic.

As it happens, I have actually been toying with the idea of adding a knowledge base section to the site. My intentions with this being that it would enable me to publish some more worthwhile content that has value.

    Thanks for the suggestion Mxhub.

Great looking site. I found it slow to load and to submit my proxy site.
