Default Need some quick advice on a list service

OKay, I am checking into this way to get an email list quick and fast.
This list will be mine, the list will only be given to two people.
I can then use this list any way I please (will have to get an autoresponder).

It will cost me 50 bucks a month (they say each list will be in the neighborhood of 5000 new emails per month). So in a years time, that would be about 60,000 in my email list.

These emails are double opt-in cogenerated and are people who do want marketing information, etc.

Now, if you had this chance, would you jump on it?
I have give or take, 24 hours to make up my mind.

My own personal thought would be to pass.

They've given you a small window to think about it (less than 24 hours). Typical pressure tactics.
And, I have had lists that approached the 5000 mark (representing one month of your subscription or 50 BUCKS!). It's difficult enough to get even 5-10 out of 5000 to visit a free website and then you have the task of trying to earn at least 50 bucks from them, just to break even.

If it were me, I'd pass. Just my 2 cents.

I agree, don't you have a list of your own with all the directories you have? Offer a free product to clients too to build your list right up. I always pref to have clients on my lists that I have gotten on my own. I feel like their is more loyalty or atleast relationship when you started it with them on your own site instead of a list of unknowns.

    Don't own any directories.

Well, I tried the old way and got damn few people.

I only put in 24 hours because I did not want to wait too long on this offer as the price will rise.

    Here is the offer:

Now you have all the information, is it worth it for me?

I guess my question would be about who is opting in to these lists? Are they women wanting to buy shoes or people who a genuinely interested in the type of products you offer Joe? Also just because they are double optin, doesn't mean that you won't be considered a spammer if you email them. I would ask to see where and how they gather their optin emails. Are they part of a usenet group and are they simply harvesting emails from the list? or Are they a legitimate business, building lists ethitically?

According to the website, these are people looking for opportunities.
Emailed Leon who sent me this and he told me that he uses them for getting his leads (one of several sources he uses).

Well, off to the graduation party.
Will off and on think about this one.
