Hi joshua!
It depends on the budget you have for marketing and advertising your site.
Free methods:
Submission to SE's and directories
Article marketing
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings to targetted audience
Social Bookmarking
Etc. etc.
Premium ways: (Should require a budget)
Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Targetted Link backs
Professional SEO services
Ad spaces
Offline campaigns
Etc. etc.
Just always keep in mind that patience is a virtue in our industry. Hope my suggestions help out.
Goodluck!

Joshua ,thanks for not spamming. Most of the newbies will post a link to their site.
Coming to the point.
Search Engine Optimization is the first and important way to get traffic. You will get min. 10 hits /day if your site is in the first 10 listing. (Min 10 - this will depends on keyword. If it is a very good keyword , hen you will get more hits)
Advertisement is another good option. Place your ad in newspaper sites, forums etc.
Few more ways as mrCat mentioned above. But i think these two are key.
All the best !

I like to use Addme.com.. I find actually hand submitting manually to SE's gets you crawled quick and often..
Listing in Directories certainly helps!!!! Hint, hint...![]()

Hey joshua,
Without a little more information, it's really hard to give you advice! One thing that works for pretty much every website is Article Marketing, as well as Search Engine Optimization. I'm sure you know what those are, if you don't you can find information on them pretty easily. I'm sorry that I can't help you more than that, but you didn't even tell us what your site is about!
well joshua i would suggest you can go to Targeted Traffic from Expired Domains. they use expired domains to direct traffic and this is quality traffic as i myself had a campaign with them and i had good results

Is it your site?
It is same as buying traffic.
Do either SEO, PPC, or any other method, but some would go after SEO and have your site very presentable.![]()
hi there joshua.
There have been a few good posts for you to sink your teeth into to help get you started. I was in the middle of creating a website that showed you how to increase your visitors but sadly I have never had the time to finish it
My one piece of advice for you is do not imeediatly think the more visitors you receive the more business you will get. Why do I say this? well depending on your site (say for example it is an online shop) someone can come to your site and not buy. what you want to do is to increase your buyers which is a totally different thing.
So just make sure it is the number of visitors you want to increase or the end result wether it would be a sale or a sign in to an email list.
Once you know exactly what you want post back here again and i'll give you some pointers on where to start
If you're selling your own product or service, you should definately look into starting an affiliate program. Although you do need to make sure your website converts first. A great way to see how well your product or service converts is to purchase targetted PPC ads.
From there it's all about testing your sales copy, layout, design, check-out process...etc. etc.
I have heard from so called gurus that you can use one method to solely drive your traffic online and be successful, from my personal experience I can say this is correct. I would still suggest that when you are starting your online traffic building efforts, try out more than one way to see what you are happy with.
The bottom line is that the traffic has to be profitable, so if you test and it is a winner then keep using it to promote your business. It's the same with a loser, get rid of it and keep testing to see where you find consistent results.
