Thread: What is the Best Way to Monetize a Blog

To me there seems to be many ways to monetize a blog. The one I am currently using is Adsense and I am not really sure about any other methods. I was wondering if anyone had any other good methods that they are currently using or have used before?

I use AdBrite and I absolutely swear by it.
People think I'm on commission to plug AdBrite at every opportunity, but I'm not
I'm earning well from them and they're less anal than AdSense.

Adbrite seems to work well with my clients as well. You can try that out Riccur. Try some options, you won't lose anything by trying.

I would try affiliate which is related to what you write about.
I see you write on fitness so there are a lot of affiliate in these field. Just to it cleaver, tell your readers you find something great and direct them to your affiliate link.

If you have devoted readers, this should work. However, I truly hate when the blogs I read direct me to shit stuff, so choose your affiliate wisely.

It depends on your blog content. what works for one blog may not work for another. I have one blog that gives book reviews and does great with Amazon. The other sites do not do so well with amazon. My tool site does great at selling links and advertising banners. It is an trail an error solution to find what works best for you.

Am I allowed to put both Adbrite ads and Adsense ads on my blog? I know adsense is added automatically because I use blogger, but I was wondering if I could add in Adbrite?

Yes, you're allowed to do that.
I recommend a combination of AdBrite inlines and AdSense for Content. If you use inlines only you can avoid any dodgy adult image ads.

If you write thorough content and work in a mid/high paying niche then stick with Adsense, but otherwise get some affiliate programs on the go.

I would recommend you try affiliate links on your blog.

We use google adsense for ours, never tried Adbrite but will do that though. We do blog reviews, we made quite a bit doing that and even some we did free because it was informative. If you have nice PR you can always use it to your advantage by selling reviews, links and ad spots with banners. There are a number of ways.

may i ask how long you took to get that blog up? and how is it converting for you? thanks

I use affiliate programs - mostly epn. I link to auctions relevant to the subject of my blogs and it works out quite well for me

You can promote affiliate products relevant to your blog. Focus on digital products that can be directly downloaded from the vendor's site. The affiliate commission is bigger for the digital products.

If the blog is in specific niche and you have loyal readers Affiliate products works better than any other PPC programs.

@homebizseo Makes a great point. It's really about what's a relevant fit for your audience, and the content of said blog. Perhaps one might be useful for an affiliate program. Another for AdSense. Another for sponsored conversation.

Yep, I have no complaints.
I'm just waiting for someone big to come along and sign up under me.

In my case, I monetize my blogs solely via adsense. Although I am not discounting the possibility of trying to put affiliate links in the future.

AdBrite is a good source of funds

The key to monetizing a blog is to have multiple revenue streams. Generally adsense alone will not make you the kind of money that you are looking for.

Adsense and Amazon for me. I have a few blogs running with articles on specific topics and where I can, I embed an Amazon product link in/below the article. Gets me reasonable cash on a regular basis.

This is my first time of hearing about AdBrite, I only use Adsense since it is known. Thank you for this. I will try it to monetize my blog.

There are many ways to monetize a blog and one of the best ways is to increase it's PR value and sell it. Another thing is to put some ads in your blog.

I follow all the promotion techniques by doing the SMO process. Like participating in social networks and submitting your article in Social bookmarking sites. As long as you have a good content and you do the right procedure to promote your site, traffic will follow. And be sure you have a good color in your adsense that fits to your design.. So that it will be visible to your visitors and they might visit it.

The only sure fire way that I have been monetizing my blog is through Adsense and I make enough from it to even swear by it. Apart from that I also make some money through link placement, and paid blogging.

I have not had time to try other advertisers, but will surely give them a go this Christmas period.

It's worth to try adbrite.

Right, is your blog about cameras then try the Amazone affiliate programm for example. If you are in the weight loss niche I would try Clickbank.

Contextual Advertising is the Best Way to Monetize a Blog.

We've had a lot of luck with Commission Junction on niche sites.

I have been using amazon associates lately and am very happy with this choice.

There are actually lots of ways, you should search google and i am sure you will find lots of methods to monetize your blog. Here are some methods you can try:
1. Sell adspace (you can sell it to adsense, adbrite, adonion, ptp123, bidvertiser, and other popular ads provider)
2. Join affiliate marketing program (you get money for every purchase or registration your visitors do in other website)
3. Selling article review (please search in google)

Have you maybe tried selling your own advertising?
