What are your thoughts on newish MSN's Live Search?

I've seen a lot of spammy results which is disappointing.

Seems ok, I just tried it for the first time. What did you search for? I don't see any spam yet.

    Fantastic!! To say the least!

Its a great little, extremely efficent engine, much better then google, it can take ages too be spidered by google, its not as efficent I feel, and google misses out alot of important stuff. You dont often get a second chance with google to get re-spidered. Msn is completely different.

Its soo much better then google, but people wont use it.

To be honest I am not that all over impressed.

Ranking wise its great, but traffic is extremely poor. MSN will never over take Google in search IMO.

Yeah, I hate the idea that one company has taken over the search engine industry, and that it would be great to see some good visitors from MSN and Yahoo, but the problem is both MSN and Yahoo aren't just a search engine anymore, and people don't appear to be using it for search too.

Google, if not careful will go along the same path, and some new upcoming search engine will appear on our monitors - we can hope!

Still not great, traffic wise yeah nothing compared to google but not bad. I'd love three or 4 engines splitting traffic equally to be truthful. I hate living and dying by google.

    I agree GRIM.

The LAST thing any business owner should do is rely on Google, or in fact even rely on the search engines - I do a lot of offline marketing, for my main business, and this works well with search engine traffic.

Oh and MSN Live search looks like it's been designed by a 10 yr old.

Well, i agree with you partly.

Part I don't agree with is explained below.

What happens if Billy boy buys out google and uses same engine and stuff on MSN? Msn is appearance wise better than google, i refer to live search. So, MSN can any time win the race, if they are able to have some sound engine to run their services.

At present its all in mess to say the least. manyatimes, i get rather irrational results on top whereas google throws me the ones i am looking for and let me mention i am using same search parameters in both cases.

But I am hopeful, MSn shall improove. Atleast their monoploy is over and they have realized this. So, developemnts and improvements will come in due course of time.

Its not impossible. There is an awful lot wrong with google, and its very shabby in places.

Msn need to work on it a bit, they could overtake google in a few years, but they need to act now, offering things like pagerank etc. People go crazy for that stuff.

it has improved a lot. the beta one was horrible. i like msn because it picks up new sites quicker than other search engines. and finally they have taken steps to forget the old dial up users. live search is basically good on broadband
