We all know about pagerank, some say its useless, some say it is very useful.
What does a Page rank mean to you and what do you think is the purpose of increasing PR ?
Thanks

It means more $$$ from link sales.....
Apart from impressing link buyers, it is meaningless![]()

For serp it's useless ... for link selling it do wonders!
Also people who own a directory can increase their rates of Link sales in their directory.

It doesn't have any great significance any more because too many people know how to manipulate it. Likewise Google itself has devalued PR by the way it is penalising good sites all over the place.

A Google feature that helps determine the rank of a site in our search results. PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your searches.
http://www.google.com/support/webmas...k&topic=&type=When a user enters a query, our machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the most relevant to the user. Relevancy is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the PageRank for a given page.
http://www.google.com/support/webmas...k&topic=&type=.How often does Google crawl the web? Google's spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as PageRank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of individual sites.

for sure page rank = money
For me it's not money... It's backlinks. [MENTAL][/MENTAL]
I mean if you have a higher page rank more reputable sites will request to link to your site right? More links means more traffic:P

Page rank to me means the value of the site.
Having a high page rank, your site has a higher value.
What do people do by buying websites which has a pr5 but revenue is $1 per month ?![]()
The main reason I find PR pretty useless is that the majority of internet users have no idea what it is. I am pretty sure 90% of the people who visit my site don't even bother to check.
PR is ridiculous. It means absolutely nothing. I have a blog that is ranked very very well on Google but has a PR0. Its a joke.
Means It'll take less effort to sell the domain.
PR means to me, nothing more then hey look, idiots link to me. :B

It may be meaningless! However, you can earn a lot of money with link sales and increase the value of your site with some high PR.
As UNR stated, it is much easier to sell a domain with PR. You have hundreds of uniques a day and no PR and not be able to sell a site. If the same site was PR3 or higher, people would be beating down your Paypal to buy it.
Site's value... for SERP useless...

a lot of us misunderstood the true meaning and essence of PR..google did not create PR if this is not important..

I never thought about Page Ranks until I came here, and its good to see them go upits not that important to me at the moment.

I think its just a little pat on the back from the likes of google really a sort of acknowledgment that your site exists.
Its not super important but it is nice to have it to some degree even if just for the fact that it shows your site is at least a few months old.
PR is a good way to determine how much I could sell links IMO![]()
Can you please back that up?
Internal PageRank was and is a very important ranking factor. What you see in the toolbar is almost senseless since when those values are exported, they are already 3-4 months old: More info on PageRank
There are changes in the PageRank algo factors, but doesn't mean that it is devalued.
