Default Is page rank taken into account by Google algorithm now?

I would like to raise one of the most arguable questions nowadays – page rank and the impact it has on website ranking positions in Google! I think page rank has not a direct impact on Google algorithm today! Even if it does this influence is much lower today! What do you think about this question? Do you agree with me? If not let’s start discussing this interesting topic!

Question Re: Is page rank taken into account by Google algorithm now?

surely a large part of page rank is inbound links and their quality so it must be a large proportion of the algorithm... i think?

I think as search becomes more and more personalized Pagerank will become less and less relevant.

I do not think it ever played a huge roll in the SERPs. People often tied them together because the real relationship comes from quality back links. For example, you may achieve a PR5 with tons of fair links. Another webmaster may achieve the PR5 with just a few real quality links. The second one will receive better SE results because of the quality links not because of the PR number.

criteria for page ranking differs by search engines. If your site is good with google, don't expect it to be the same with yahoo, etc...(But to have a high page rank really matters)- it's an added attraction for advertisers.

I agree with this, too. I used to do massive amounts of manual submissions to general link directories. Now I have cut back on that and started focusing on targeted and relevant backlinks. I actually have more traffic and better conversions now.

Page rank still plays a very important role in Google's Algorithm.

The original PageRank algorithm was described by Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin, and it is as follows:
    PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))

    where
PR(A) is the PageRank of page A,
PR(Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
C(Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1.

Page Ranks is a key factor for Google and would always be like it is today.

    Regards
