Pagerank is the important role for your website because the page rank is giving you the best result in search engine optimization and it will give you the best traffic to your website through through the ranking.

Most of the people wants to get more page rank to their websites and if you want to improve your page rank then you can make more comments in blogs, write post in forum and put your url in signature column to get mroe back link for your website to get more page rank.

How many backlinks do you think you should be building on a daily basis?

Page Rank has very little at all to do with your SERPs and I think that most webmasters will agree with that.

PR is pointless, unless you care about advertising.
PR is like rating a model on her hotness, if she's hot she'll get a job modeling otherwise she won't.

Good article. I have sites that have low pr and are on the 1st page for the targeted keyword. The algo is a lot more complicated than before the big daddy update.

PR still has some importance. A link on a high pr page can be as good as gold. But the problem is that the link guarantees you nothing. Many high ranking pages have had their ability to flow pagerank blocked due to link selling.

I have some sites with PR3 and they hardly get any traffic :S I have sites with 0 PR and they get a lot of traffic.

ha ha ha this PR thing is amusing. I thought PR comes after traffic not the other way around. How can you have PR3 websites with almost 0 traffic.... that is really fantastic. I mean really, how can you do that?

It is simple. The reason is because PR has little to do with your SERPs. Any experienced webmaster will know this and will understand that your traffic is not based upon the PR.

Do this experiment - type in a search word or phrase and then look at the PR of the top 10 or 20 sites. You will soon see that they are not in order of PR and in fact it is common for high PR pages to appear below pages with low, or no, PR value.

Agree. I would rather have traffic then PR but it is still nice to say you have a PR whatever site when you are tring to sell adds. Google, Google, Google, Google all mighty.

Untill something comes along better then big G we can only play the game as pawns on a chess board.

The only way I can see around it would be to have a ton of money and drop it into ads.

For more competitive keywords the top sites generally have higher tool bar pr. But the serp position, as you pointed out, isn't due to the pr displaying in the tool bar. A lot of people don't realize that Google uses internal pr along with approx 200 other factors to rank sites.

That's correct. Only thing PR is doing, is showing calculated result of backlinks count.

DUDE! You just ripped off my website and pasted my copyrighted material here. Are you aware that is wrong?

Yeah, it just happens that I wrote that and that it is on my website clearly marked as copyrighted material.

I request that you edit your post to remove my content. I could do it myself but that would probably be misusing my 'power'. If you want to use something like this just post the first few sentences and the provide a link. Dont steal someone elses hard work.

EDIT After more than 24 hours and no replies to PM I have decided to go ahead and edit the above post to remove the stolen content. After thinking about it I do not see this as misusing my power because I would do the same for anyone here if they reported another member stealing their content and posting it here.

The whole thing is funny really. I mean people steal content and post it on their blogs and in forums all the time and they think it is OK, but you never know when the actual owner and copyright holder might see it!

Too funny. I've seen worse where someone posts the article as if its theirs and it turns out that the copyrighted material belongs to the forum owner.

Was the backlink included of the pagerank article?

No, he posted the entire article with no backlink at all - just said "Find in Google:" and then copied and pasted my article.

I PMd him and asked him to edit the post but no reply. After more than 24 hours had passed I decided to edit the post myself and leave the intro and put in the link to the full article - as is the way it should have been done in the first place.

The poster should have posted a summary of a minimum of 5 sentences and the link.

Well, I tried PMing the guy first and asked if he would edit the post. At first I thought it would be wrong for me to edit it myself, but then after I thought it I realized that it would not be wrong as I would have done the same if it had been someone elses article and they had brought it to my attention.

It always irks me when people do stuff like this!

In the good ole days 3k reciprocal links with some good pr would give you first page results. That's not the case anymore.

Content is king. Qaulity content builds authority and rankings.

Howver, PR is still a measure of the importance of a page.

Many people don't realize that there are ranking factors other than PR and will pay $100 a month for a high pr link. The sad part is that the page may have add its ability to flow pagerank blocked and the link is worthless.

Use the money to generate content.

If you, or anyone else here contacted me and informed me that someone here had "stolen" your coyrighted content and posted it here I would check to be sure you were right and then I would do the same thing as I have done for my own article. I am one of the Mods here (duhh) so there is no need for me to contact the owners when someone does something like that. Copyright violation is illegal so it is automatically against the rules.

I am sure this is either to imcrease post count or to spam. No normal person would barges in like this into a forum and gives a lecture to its members on simple stuff. Just like at his other threads, I somehow doubt he would bother to reply. This is very typical of bot activity.

Wow. I haven't noticed this thread. I have to strongly disagree with this idea. PR is all just a crap! A green bar that has really nothing to do with the rankings!

It's funny to think that people are always focusing on the pagerank and not in traffic. Do they know that with low traffic, High PR is useless?

Pr that you can see in the toolbar means next to nothing. It was just merely a guide on how your site is working in the internal ranking system of Google and is updated only once every three months.
