Thread: How True it is that Google Pagerank is Gone or Will be Gone?

Well, people are started talking and arguing about the Google Pagerank will be removed. I'm just curious because everything about Google, it concern everyone that will lead to suspect the intention and there's always a lot of questioning about Google.

So what do you think guys, Does Google Pagerank really gone for good?

Anyway, I found this article and it seem interesting.

It won't. Because it's one major factor in the algorithm Google uses to display websites in search engines Ofcourse there are a few thousand other factors but removing this one might become a mess

I guess it wont happen coz its one of the major reasons why Google is still in the top of search engine. Surely their would be downfall in google is such thing happens

I think it's not going to happen as there's not any other rank which can replace it. As soon Google stop ranking, it will take some time to establish a new one which will be quite reliable.

I agree with the above. Google is too well established to make such critical changes. IF page rank was a minor variable in SERP then they could slowly phase it out. However, that is not the case. In my opinion, if they really wanted to drop page rank, it would take several long months for everything to stabilize. In that time, Google would lose credibility and other search engines would be able to hijack the market...

Google page rank helps to categorize the web pages. We all would like to have a backlink from relevant and high PR web pages. PR is still important and its one of the important element of the algorithm.

I don't thinks it's true that Google Page Rank system will be Gone.
Because it's a measurement of sites Pages that what quality back links they gain from other pages and Google should not do this.

I guess Google won't let it happen. Maybe they are just making some changes but not pulling it off.

I don't think they will drop it any time soon. A lot of people rely on PR for a wide range of things ranging from buying links to advertising. So dropping it will definitely change the whole SEO landscape as we know it.

That said, PR on its own is almost useless unless of course your sell links on your site. What most people should be worrying about is where on the SERP they appear for their keywords.

I don't care for PR.For me SERP is most important.

No way it's going to happen. Makes them a lot of business and money. Its how the search works.

I don't think that Google page rank will ever be vanished or it will come to an end. Google brings whatever will remain forever here.

As PR is one of the many factors Google use for algorithm, I think PR is going to stay but the value may be lesser as Google introduces more factors to determine SERP.

It has been noticed that almost all websites are depending a Google Page Ranking, So the importance of Google page ranking can not be ignored, we never let me go.

Maybe, if google find another better way to determine the popularity of a website : D

I say its not an exact news, because definitely Google wont be having any consideration about dropping the Page rank.Since all the websites are aiming to reach first page in Google search result.

PR is juyst a number rankings and pr has like 0 conexion learn this or you will waste time and resources with useless things like PR

Anyway i never care about PR i only care abour RANKINGS and TRAFFIC

If they will remove PR it will stop this PR madness that amateurs do evry PR update or when buying/exchanging links ...

Page rank will never be removed from webmaster tools. Google pay a lot for getting this copyrighted.

most says that PR is not important for them, but whatever they say, they are still getting crazy when their PR increases. right?

'Google dropping Page Rank', while this might make discussions more interesting but this is not going to happen anytime soon.
Page Rank will continue to be relevant for the simple reason that the google format is like a list. Now why would you mark the line important if the last person standing is equally visible,viable and relevant? Google would have to change its layout first (in some revolutionary way) or else let the Page Rank exist at its current important place.

Now, this thread was started way back in another decade (2008) and page rank is still with us. I think that is not going away anytime soon, but that merely an opinion that can not be supported.

Page Rank is like a trademark on Google. I don't think Google will disregard and remove PR.

I suspect it is just a bit of kidology perhaps to stop people obsessing about it so much.

If Google ditches PR it won't really matter.

The big obsession regarding PR had to do with the buying and selling of links. The higher the PR the more valuable the link was thought to be. Like many things in this industry they don't go away esily

I don't think so, it's among the major factor in google algorithm.

sometimes down the road, it might get phased out. its practically useless anyways

what makes webmaster to promote their site well is because of google page rank i believe it is a metric system about the value of your website

I doubt that Google will abandon its core product but younever know it could be possible. Heck, anything is possible right?

Google tells people not to worry about pagerank and as a way of making us believe them they removed PageRank from Google Webmaster Tools.

Google loves to lie and keep everything in the dark.

Just because Pagerank got taken off of Google Webmasters Tools, does not mean that Google so longer finds it important.

They put alot of work into figuring out each individual pages PageRank, they would not do this for no reason.

That's a bit misleading. Google said that PageRank is only a small factor compared to so many other more important factors. Content and backlinks, for example, are obviously much more important. Google said the confusion arises from the fact that out of so many ranking factors, PR is the only one with a catchy name. Their mistake was over-marketing one of the less important factors. But they admit this. It was removed from webmaster tools for that reason.

Yea and I guess in that is where lies the confusion, Google removed PageRank from webmaster tools so no one could no longer see their own PageRank,

Yet for example if you go to Google Directory, all of their listings are ordered not by name or backlinks, they are ordered by PageRank.

So Google is going around telling people not to worry about PageRank but its plastered all over their own directory.

Also many of private and independent site directories also include your PageRank along with your site description.

Only Difference is though, most of these other directories list theirs sites alphabetically, not by PageRank like google does.

Example: PageRank 7 = zzz.com (Shows up at Top of Google Directory)
PageRank 2 = aaa.com (Shows up at Bottom of Google Directory)
