Thread: PR penalty

PR penalty is generally minus 3 (-3). which means if you site is PR5 it will become PR2 (5-3=2) after PR penalty by big G. If it is PR2 or PR1 it will become PR0.
I have been following some well known websites like linux (which lost PR fro 8 to 5 after selling some unrelated links:devlish
What do you guys say?
Any opinion?

PR is a bogus number

PR does not matter to me any longer since I don't sell links anymore. I used to worry about my sites losing PR, but that's now a thing of the past.

PR is pretty worthless now.
I also disagree about the -3 statement.
Two of my blogs, both PR5, have been reduced straight to PR0 in the past. They have now recovered to only PR2.

PR does not equal SERPs. I would take #1 in Google over PR6 with a bad position.

only thing pr matters for is link sellers and 'some' buyers

Page rank means how many people view your web page daily.
so maintain good traffic ratio your PR will definitely good.

I must disagree with you on that.

I have a pr2 site that see 5 times more UV daily then some of my pr3 sites.

Where did you get that from??
You obviously don't know the difference between PR and traffic.

There is no accurate computation on how PR is computed. Just don't stop building links.

I think PR is still important! That is why a lot of webmasters are trying to gain PR!

I know it fluctuates but have never heard of anyone with a pr of -3. They must have been doing something wrong to get whacked like that.

Does this thing really exist practically ?

Sites and directories which were affected by a Page Rank penalty had a few things in common - they all offered paid high PR links and keyword optimized anchor text which were search engine indexable (none used the 'nofollow' attribute).

Wow how long would it take to get back to the original PR?
